You can read about the first day of the newlywed diet over here.
Look! I’m a real healthy living blogger now that I post daily pics of my oatmeal. I kid with love! <3 Today, Kevin James tried oatmeal with me and it included one cup of frozen berries + 1 Truvia. I topped our oatmeals with almonds, but I ended up HATING that so I just skimmed mine off and threw them away. KJ thought they were okay. My cafe on the side. Here's a cool list of 100-calorie Oatmeal Toppings I found over on Cooking Light. They range from “sweet” and “chewy” to “adventurous.” I’m going to have to do some experimenting!
My Double H can only handle a mini cup of Java. I’m working him into it. Grandma Mary Kay would be proud. Her only concern about our marriage was that he wasn’t a coffee drinker like us!
The oatmeal plan is definitely tiding me over to lunch very well! Maybe it helped that I went back to bed for a few… hours. Haha. Today’s lunch was pesto pizza on some artisan flatbread we picked up the other day at the grocery store. The nutritional value of that flatbread rocks! It has 8 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein and the double piece is only 100 calories! It was a random purchase, but I’m definitely going to find it again. It makes excellent portion-controlled pizzas! It’s called Foldit Artisan Flatbread and this particular one was 5 Grain Flax in case you want to check it out!
I made this coffee as an afternoon treat, but it was super disappointing. I can’t make coffee as good as Kevin James. I ended up tossing it. I think the creamer might be getting a bit old.
Here’s the bread you saw earlier in the bread baking for slackers post. Kevin James and I both wolfed down two before heading out for some PHYSICAL FITNESS. Yeah. Softball for Kevin James and running for me.
Who Dat Girl?? Honestly, it felt AWFUL to be back in my running shoes tonight and I whined and pouted all the way That’s what I GET for taking a such a long break during the honeymoon. Thankfully, the past two days of healthy eating has probably helped with damage control when it comes to stomaching a run. It was also BLAZING HOTTTTT! But I still chose to run both lakes and clocked 4.93 in 37:40. That’s a 7:38 pace if you’re a runner. I THINK that’s a little underestimation. I didn’t have my Garmin and had to rely on a stopwatch on my iPhone (I WAS TERRIFIED OF DROPPING IT) and DailyMile mapping. I must’ve done a cheat somewhere, like paused and forgot to turn it back on or something because I felt like I was CRAWLING for dear life. Anyways, the moral of the story is, NOW I FEEL GREAT! And I’m so glad I did it.
Kevin James and I tagged teamed it on dinner after we got our sorry sweaty selves back home. He was feeling it from his hamstring, and I was feeling the run + my annoying health issues I’ve been having this week. Boohooey! But this dinner cheered us up. It was seriously the best taco salad ever!
In this mix: half iceberg/half romaine lettuce (taco salad is better with iceberg but more healthy with romaine), green onions, red onions, green peppers, HOT salsa, black beans, lime, cilantro, whole wheat tortilla chips, and reduced fat Mexican cheese. It was amazing. I had to take BREAKS while eating it, partly because it was so huge and partly because it was so spicy. Kevin James would like you to know that he finished a full five minutes before me. That literally never happens. I think he’s a little disappointed in my spicy-food-eating-skills! But I forgot the salsa was HOT! Everyone I know always has the medium or mild so I piled it on. This resulted in me drinking about 4 additional glasses of ice water. That resulted in my body freezing to death while my lips were on FIRE! And my nose is STILL running. But it was delicious.
Successful day 2. Did you notice something missing? DIET COKE!! My goal was to drink only 1, and I drank 0. Although Kevin James TORTURED me by drinking two in front of me tonight!
