Qdoba & My Serendipitous Soda

I had to lead with this because it is so awesome! We totally did not plan to go to Qdoba, but we ended up there because once again we were trying to pick up Panera soup on the way home from the grocery store. I got hung up on the idea of their black bean soup last week, and I can’t seem to get it out of my head. Apparently, Panera actually closes at eight. You would think we would’ve known that since we showed up late the other day. Anyhow. Next door is Qdoba. We picked up some quick take-out, and Kevin spotted this on our way out the door. We didn’t buy drinks since we were taking it home so I just stood there and drooled.

And guess what happened? The lady behind the counter saw the longing in my eyes and gave us two cups. FOR FREE! More free stuff! :)

After perusing the helpful nutrition pamphlet, I selected the Naked Taco Salad, but I had to add the guacamole. I like how they always warn me it’s extra. I know, I know! :)   They do that at Subway too. You would know if you loved guacamole the way I do.

Kevin had some sort of a burrito because he’s such a man’s man.

The cool fountain pop machine totally made my night. I’m still all cheerful and giggly about it! I actually tricked Kevin into giving me BOTH the drinks and he had just a regular old Diet Coke can that we already had at home.

My two picks: Raspberry Diet Coke & Peach Sprite Zero. I want to go back. Tomorrow. And sit there. And drink refills. Kevin would never know. Except that I would definitely blog about each flavor. Maybe even a Facebook status for each flavor… I love you Qdoba. How do you think you pronounce Qdoba?

One of the great things about take-out is that I can add my own sides. Like my favorite multigrain scoop “healthy” chips.

Just so you know we earned that dinner! Kevin plotted out a grueling course for us this afternoon. It was almost completely made up of hills! My quads are seriously twitchy!

Happy September (AKA My Birthday Month)! Look what we saw at the grocery store! Caramel apple with GIANT sprinkles! The first gift Kevin ever gave me was a caramel apple. But it was better than this. It had Reese’s on it! Yum! We didn’t buy any. Yet.

But we did get a deal on some Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream! Oh yeah! Kevin planned it for our 10PM snack, but we’re running a little late due to this blog post. Do you plan your snacks ahead of time? Once this week Kevin and I caught ourselves planning our snacks out two ahead of time. :)

What would be your ultimate soda combo? I think Diet Coke with orange is going to be weird. But maybe if I mixed orange and vanilla? Diet Coke Dreamsicle!

What would be your favorite caramel apple topping? Obviously sprinkles. Maybe something white chocolate. And Coconut M&Ms.

P.S. Diet Coke just officially launched a new look. I can’t wait to find one! But I am so jealous of the people who got the refrigerators!

  5. Too bad you won’t be here in the fall for apple season. We were going to take you to Ferguson’s orchard to pick apples with us and then invite you to sauce them with me! They have pretty good caramel apples there too including carmel crab apples just the right size for the kids. Oh, and crushed dark chocolate M&Ms are the best topping.

  6. A fully-stocked DC fridge? Yeah, that’s what you need: even MORE free stuff! I still reeling from the free the pizza…
