This is wedding recap post #5. The last recap was Hello Gorgeous: Our First Look. You can see all wedding-related posts on the Wedding page. This one is a little out of order, but I was feeling sentimental today so I went with it!
The Wabasha 5 = Aimee, Amy, Corrie, Joe, and Deidre. Fact: I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t friends with Deidre & Joe. We’ve known each other since birth! One of my earliest memories with Deidre is my third birthday party. We had a tea party with my teddy bear, Charlie, and some of our dolls. One of my favorite things to do with Joe when we were a little older was to go on little drives. We would eat RIDICULOUS amounts of candy (at least three candy bars a piece!) and talk about all the Wabasha drama. The only time Joe and I almost stopped being friends was sometime in college. Somehow we were both in Wabasha for the summer and he had an apartment in town. We tried to have a Lord of the Rings marathon. Not all in one day. On three consecutive evenings. With pizza! We just couldn’t do it. I was far too antsy! I don’t even like the LOTR movies, but it was probably my idea. I ended up leaving halfway through the second movie so we could stay friends!
Amy I met in about sixth grade? I remember the day we became friends. We were at the chapel playing volleyball and Deidre was recruiting her to be on our Bible quizzing team! Amy and I became fast friends and we liked to do our paper routes together. It probably took us twice as long, but we just had SO MUCH to talk about. Thinking back, I should probably be more understanding of middle schoolers who physically cannot stop during class! It’s a good thing I was home schooled.
I met Aimee a few years later when we were all having cream puff fights washing dishes at St.Elizabeth’s. Aimee and I bought a pair of Hot Topic camouflage pants together before we went off to college. We co-owned them for a good eight years before I heartlessly sold them in the garage sale this summer. I’m suddenly feeling the urge to listen to the All-American Rejects. I forgot they existed until I heard a song in the grocery store the other day!
The five of us actually all ended up going to Emmaus Bible College for at least a year. I can’t believe it because we were all at various tumultuous parts of our lives, and some of us are very stubborn. None of us actually live in Wabasha anymore, but we all go home there for the holidays and whatnot. I am so blessed to have such good friends for life.
Here we are with all of our additions! Everyone chose so well. I actually got to choose two since I set Joe & Liz up!
Sorry, couldn’t resist! Also, who wants to make a bet who will have a baby first between Amy and me?
Here we are at Deidre’s wedding. Don’t we look like such little babyfaces? We always used to try and guess who would get married first, and Deidre showed us how it was done! I had to look on MYSPACE to find this picture!! Deidre got married before I had Facebook!!!!! Joe’s dad, Al, bet both Deidre and me $100 that we would get married before we turned 21. He ended up having to cough it up for me, getting married as an old maid of 26!
Joe was next! I was an usher in the wedding, and I also felt like a proud parent since I set them up!
Aimee married Bradley-Boo.<3
Amy & Carl were next. The day after this picture was taken, I met Kevin for the very first time!!!
And here’s a natural shot of us before there were any babies around.
I was home for Christmas break during my first year teaching in the Dominican Republic, and I was just so happy to see everyone. Like you can’t see THAT in my face!
Love you guys, and I can’t wait for our next reunion. How about a ski trip down by me? I’ll sit in the lodge looking cute, snapping photos on my iPhone, and drinking coffee. And whoever is feeling adventurous can risk the broken bones!
