Our Surprise Visitor + Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers

Kevin’s quote of the day when I taunted him about the calories in a leftover Halloween Reese’s pumpkin…. “I LOVE CALORIES.” Store that one away, blogger husbands! It could come in handy.

Today’s workout — an easy 3.55 miles in the gym. I was running slow, and then I thought, man, I should be running a pace at least as fast as hungryrunnergirl’s marathon mile splits…. hahaha… We had to get going home so I could practice my sign twirling.

I’m extremely enthusiastic! :)

I’m still working on coaching Kevin’s chipperness!

We decided we needed some snacks for the (half hour) trip to the airoport. Garlic Parmesan Pretzel Crisps, DP, & discounted candy corn! Woohoo!

We’re waiiiiiiting.

OUR FIRST VISITOR!!! My brother surprised my sister-in-law ON HER BIRTHDAY with tickets to Denver to visit us. Side note: she just told me that everyone she saw on the tram in the airport was wearing North Face. Isn’t he the best husband ever!?!? I’ve been SO EXCITED for her to visit (and it doesn’t hurt that I get the next 2 days off work!!!!!!!!!), but I couldn’t talk about it on the blog because, duh, she reads it.

We were on the mission to take the poor girl to dinner. I was NOT about to cook after the mess my kitchen has been the last few days with all the baking. No, thank you! We headed over to my fave Southglenn to see what was still open. We spottedĀ  Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers and decided to give it a shot. I just can’t help myself – I always want to try new restaurants.

We started things off with some delicious pesto cheese bread.

The Gourmet White Pizza had provolone, feta, sun-dried tomatoes, and the sauce had yummy garlic in it!

Kevin was obviously a big fan of the pizza too!! He had the Funky Q Chicken. What a cutie.

We were so happy to have leftovers to take home!! Woohoo! We really enjoyed the chill atmosphere, unique pizza flavors (cool crust), and excellent service. I kept telling Kevin to give the server a good tip. He was extremely friendly & helpful.

We finished off our evening with some Mocha Cream Cake and some triple computer time on the futon! Kevin had homework, and the girls had to do some research for our big shopping extravaganza tomorrow!

Do you like big surprises? Like plane tickets for that day. No. But I love them for other people!!! :)

Do you like to try new restaurants or keep going back to old faves? I’m always up for something new.

  1. Next time you’re at the Mellow Mushroom just think to yourself, “There used to be a Walgreens and a JCPenny store in a depressed mall where I’m sitting right now.” That place has been re-imagined more incredibly than you could believe looking at it now :-)

  3. Yay for signs in the airport! They’re my favorite and I make them for everyone and no one makes them for me… sad. Also those pretzel crisp chip things are amazing and the best snack in the history of snacks.

  4. AWESOME!!!! I love visitors! Your brother is AMAZING! What a perfect gift?!?! I love surprises, with all of my heart!
