Last night we hit the airport immediately after work. It wasn’t too terribly busy, but it felt like everybody was crawling through security. I saw a funny sign for a special security line for “those with babies or those new to flying.” Haha. I wanted to take a picture, but at that moment the line was moving inconveniently quickly!
We love to eat Chinese in the airports. It’s a tradition I started with my BRE when we had gone months without eating American food (like Chinese – haha). We’d totally go crazy in the airport for all the things we’d miss. Can you imagine like 6 months at a time without Starbucks? So crazy.
At times like these, I DON’T ask the people in the restaurant for nutrition info.
Our flight got delayed almost TWO HOURS, but we remained as calm as cucumbers because we had no connecting flight to catch. I even suggested playing music over my iPhone speakers and teaching a complimentary Zumba class to my disgruntled fellow travellers. I finally dived into my Diane Chamberlain – The Midwife’s Confession. I wasn’t a fan of chapter one, but ocne I got into it there were like endless cliffhangers. At the end of every chapter! Seriously! But of course, I couldn’t put it down. I was REALLY upset when we got to Minnesota because I had to stop reading. I wished I had a flashlight to read in the car!! I had to ride for two hours, and then I picked it up again while Kevin was brushing his teeth. I finished it last night. 417 pages. Maybe I should start calculating my pace in READING. I eat books for my midnight snack. That meant I didn’t get to sleep till like 3AM! OOPS!
But we got to sleep in. So delicious! We rolled out of bed at like 11AM. And we were both in stellar moods. I love it!!! Joking, tickling, giggling. The perfect way to start a vacation. That and a cup of coffee. I can always count on my father-in-law for a fresh cup, and that totally wins my heart!!!
Kevin’s dad suggested we run through a nearby cemetery. Unfortunately, I totally faceplanted on the sidewalk down the street. I thought I my iPhone was going to die! Don’t worry, Kevin rescued it before he checked on me.
We both ended up fine, but I just got that awful road burn on both hands and knees. I went down hard so I was thankful I wasn’t running any faster. Stupid crack in the sidwalk. I didn’t go home though. Totally toughed it out. I don’t believe in wasting the time it takes to get dressed in running clothes. Especially cold weather running clothes!!!! We ended up finishing 3.5 miles. Pretty lame, but I’m proud we’re planning to run every day on vacation. Even in Minnesota. I’m hoping the weather stays bearable!
After our run, we spent a little while helping Kevin’s parents clean out some of his grandma’s stuff from her assisted living apartment. We came across this SUPER AWESOME VINTAGE NEWSPAPER. So impressive. I love it!
Kevin James was super sweet and made me an omelette while I showered. It was sooo good! Totally hit the spot. Now we’re off to get cracking on Thanksgiving desserts for tomorrow. I’ve decided to make a carrot cake. Kevin wants traditional (surprise, surprise), but I’m dying to try a pumpkin carrot cake.
What do you like to eat in airports? Do you stay healthy? Budget-friendly? We’re so awful!
Have you ever totally faceplanted when running? I did on our Sombrero trail race 3-4 times! Plus quite a bit when I lived in the DR with awful streets and sidewalks.
Or have you had a close call with your iPhone? It’s like I saw our life together flash before my eyes… haha. I kid.
Have you ever stayed up super late or even ALL night to read? Many. Many. Times.
