Hello December & Boyd Is So Fluffy!

Okay. So it’s December first, and I totally have a confession to make.

Despite me bringing it up, every. single. day. We totally FAILED to make the Advent gift chain happen. Too much travel. Too little sleep. And too much of Boyd’s shenanigans!

Kev-Kev was feeling lousy tonight and went to bed at like 9:30PM. I was feeling super wifely so I prepared lunch for tomorrow and did ridiculous amounts of laundry.

And then I started thinking about the one (of 25) gifts I did manage to collect. Yeah. I hid it so well I lost it. Truly. I was rummaging around in the closet for a solid 20 minutes before I found it in a shoebox in the top right hand corner. I’m documenting that because I’ll probably be able to search for this blog post quicker than I’ll be able to remember next time this happens.

Anyhow. This is what happened.

Why I felt the need to do this — we will never know. At least I was wise enough to stand up on the sink corner and put it up really high. I wouldn’t want it to block Kevin’s hair combing view!!!!

Look how super cool & eco-friendly I am. Toms box and DIY recycled gift bow.

Kevin ALWAYS gets up first in the morning before me so I figured the bathroom sink was the best spot for this little surprise.

UPDATE*** Kevin got up at like 4AM to go to the bathroom. When he got back to bed, I said,”Did you seeeeee anything?” Kevin: “nope.” So the surprise was safe till morning!!!! :)

I figure the dark chocolate coffee beans will help my handsome husband overlook my juvenile cutting & taping skills.

So excited for our first Christmas together!! Woohoo!!!!!

I was trying to figure out a way to make the packaging more festive when the Pinterest of my brain remembered the idea for using recycled magazine paper to package gifts. I Googled it up and got to work. It’s pretty ugly, but I’m still pretty proud. I would’ve done much better if Kevin had been there helping me figure out how to fold the strips of paper. That’s just the truth!

Here’s the tutorial for how to make a gift bow from a magazine page. Theirs, of course, is stunning. But it’s not really fair to compare. The person who made that one probably had opposable thumbs that were not my weird little toe thumbs.

By the by…

Boyd has been SUPER FLUFFY, and I just can’t get enough of him. We had to take the pobrecito to a dog kennel while we were out of town for Thanksgiving. We just don’t know of anyone who could put up with him and still be our friend afterwards. That basically eliminates anyone except for family since they are stuck with us!! :) Anyways, we opted to get him groomed while we were there. They totally hacked off his nasty matted ears. I couldn’t be more thrilled. He’s such a little cuddler now that I don’t even want to let him outside!

Kevin says,”Boyd, Corrie loves you right now. You better enjoy it while it lasts!” Fair enough.

Have an awesome first day of December!!!!!!! xoxo

  6. Well aren’t you just the sweetest wife!?!? :) I totally know the feeling w/ your dog and ‘better enjoy it while it lasts’. That’s pretty much how it went around here every time Abby got groomed. I’m so standoffish when she’s stinky and matted. Have a fab day! Jess
