Kevin and I waffled all weekend over what to do today! We agreed to get our “chores” done on Sunday so we’d have today free to hang. Of course, my idea of hanging begins with an hour at the gym (but then you know that already if you’ve ever stayed at my place). Following gym time, we made a spur of the moment decision to go to Colorado Springs!
I don’t go on a trip that far (an hour!) without snacks. This little treasure was filled with mixed cinnamon and honey chex cereal.
Kev Kev thought it would be fun to take me to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. I had been there once with my parents as a teenager. But about the only thing I appreciated visiting back then was Mall of America.
Corrie Anne — representing TEAM USA! Kevin and I were talking in the car about how he used to watch the Olympics and dream of being in it. I’m not sure I ever did because I wasn’t really that into sports. Maybe I’d do it for the frilly figure skating costumes!
Unfortunately, we didn’t spot a single Olympian. But it’s possible someone confused me with an Olympian!! I dressed sporty just in case!
Oh. Did I neglect to tell you that we brought BOYD!!!! Our next stop was to Garden of the Gods where we thought we’d give our furry baby a chance to stretch his little legs.
He went bananas! I mean, absolutely insane. He’s a poor only child and just couldn’t handle the excitement of so many people!! The place was packed today. Probably because the weather was so “nice.” I was fr-eezing!!! I guess I shouldn’t complain since it’s January!
Boyd was eventually banished to the backseat. He was exhausted after all the excitement and stretched out for a little nap.
We finally got a chance to walk around a little bit without Boyd-wrangling. But at that point we were too chilled to really enjoy it. I want to go back sometime and run. I saw lots of runners, and I was jealous.
Don’t I look I look like a Colorado girl!?! Please note: I changed into sweats & shoes for the little trail walk. Under no circumstances was I going to wear running shoes with jeans. Not. Gonna. Happen.
And a snack for the car trip home!!! Pistachios? I thought I’d give them a shot, and I loved them. I’ve had them before, but not really on purpose, if you know what I mean. Of course, I immediately looked them up in my 150 Healthiest Foods Book!! Sure enough, they were in there! I made another mini goal to try out some more of the foods in that book that I’ve been neglecting/scared of!!
If you could be an Olympian in any sport, what would it be? Running. Obviously. But as a child I would’ve had to choose between gymnastics and figure skating. So girly.
Are you a fan of pistachios? I love pistachio pudding and ice cream too!!
Were you off today? What’d you do? Hope you enjoyed it! Good night!

Jeans and Running Shoes = Biggest Fashion Crime EVER.
THANK YOU!!! So true.
Awesome date day!!! I LOVE that you dressed sporty–very appropriate for the locale!
You totally look like an olympian!
I would definitely be a runner if I could do any olympic sport…however, you do make an excellent point about the skating costumes!
Pistachios are Chase’s favorite nut. I only like them if they are in the shell…I like to work for my snacks!
If you could be an Olympian in any sport, what would it be: Gymnastics for sure..it would be fun an alot of work…but it would be pretty coold to do
Love pistachios!!!
Don’t work…besides i’m a busy housewife..cleaning cooking and running errands so that keeps me busy enough..
Like i said i love your blogs..wish i was a runner like you…i try to get into running i did 5 min of walking and 5 min of running for 25 min yesterday and thought i was going to die..lol
Sounds like a fun trip! And I’m so with yon on the whole no running shoes with jeans thing
I love pistachios!!! I was glad to hear they were in your book
I had to work yesterday but I enjoy what I do so it wasn’t bad. If I could be an Olympian I would want to be maybe a gymnast. I love watching that sport online, but I think it would also be super fun to be a snowboarder!
Pistachios are one of my favorite nuts and snacks! We buy ours at Costco and I believe they are unsalted or unflavored and they taste amazing! My husband is addicted to them too! I could eat a million of them!
I loved walking around Garden of the Gods! …..The husband and I went to Colorado Springs on our first honeymoon! It was a good time! Beautiful! …..We drove up Pikes- and were scared for the people going down on bikes!….
or running up it. (kidding about the running one)
That’s so sweet!! What great memory. I’m always afraid for people on bikes too. I’m not sure a tri is in my future!
A car ride without snacks? NO WAY! Snacks are a MUST.
I love the hot pink top your wearing, the color looks awesome on you! And yes, I love pistachios!
Thank you!!!!! I can’t believe I didn’t get into pistachios sooner!
Ohh too fun! I went to the one in Utah last summer. They were having an extreme sport camp there for kids and they were doing training jumps into pools. It was awesome! Love your nike pullover and matching shoes.
Thank you! And I want to go to an extreme sports camp. Ok, maybe ust running!!
