Homemade Naan Is The Best Pizza Crust

No doubt about it!!!

I even got the cute brown dimply things on top! I felt so proud!

Impressive, right?

I was inspired by the post for Homemade Pizza 9 Ways on A Beautiful Mess. And when I saw the recipe for naan was just a few itty bitty paragraphs — I couldn’t resist!

Naan, makes 8-10 servings. Recipe slightly adapted from here.

Needed: 3 3/4 cups flour, 1/4 cup whole wheat flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt and 2 cups greek yogurt.

In a bowl combine the flours, baking powder and salt. Whisk to combine. Stir in the yogurt until crumbly. Lightly flour your work surface and plop the crumbly dough on to it. Use your (clean) hands to knead the dough until it is more elastic and cohesive. Cover and allow to rest for 30 minutes to an hour.

Divide the dough into 8 to 10 pieces (depending how big you like your naan) and roll out until it’s about 1/4 inch thick. Heat a cast iron or non stick skillet over medium high heat, lay the naan in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes, flip and cook another 2-3 minutes. Once you’ve cooked all the pieces lay them on a baking sheet and bake at 400 F for 8-10 minutes to finish cooking them through.

We pulled out all the fun toppings!

Amazing right? I pulled Kevin into the kitchen to make some fun custom pizzas. I felt especially fancy with that cool round chunk of mozzarella. See how it melted all pretty?

Round 1!

And Round 2!! So fun! :) I highly recommend trying the homemade naan! Now I just need to make another round of channa masala to enjoy it with!

Speaking of A Beautiful Mess.. they have some new dresses coming out in their boutique tomorrow! Love, love, LOVE this one:

Ice Cream Sundae Jumper! You can see me in that, right? She even has my glasses on!!

Also.. Boyd is dead to me.

That awful dog ate two more of my socks this weekend!! I literally only have two left! I wouldn’t have any but I came across two during my spring cleaning frenzy on Friday!

Hey, how are you? How was your weekend? I really hope you didn’t miss my awesome St.Patrick’s Day workouts!

Do you like JUMPERS? Yeah. Is 27 too old for them?

In other fashion news, Ruche is coming out with a wedding line tomorrow! Not  clue why I find this riveting, but I do have a single friend left. ;)

Also, I need some jeans! Thoughts!?!! Otherwise I’m going to be in Ice Cream Sundae Jumpers and Ruche wedding attire!! What will I wear for casual Friday!?

Peace out! I had a dream this weekend that I said “peace out” when I was at summer camp. They made me mop as punishment. And I thought to myself,”Self, that’s good exercise! No problem.” Aren’t you proud of me for being so joival on a Sunday night? When I have three full days at the office looming!? :) :)

Hi, just came across your blog and I had to respond when I saw the Naan Post. I am in love with naan, but sadly (and excitingly) enough, we are remodeling our kitchen, so no naan will be had for a couple of weeks. Until then, I will be dreaming of making it! : )

  4. Nothing tests better than homemade pizza! And I love Naan too… With a homemade light curry :)
My dog has a thing for socks too, mine, not my man’s mind you! I don’t even know where he keeps finding them lol

  5. Hey Girl, just found your blog- too cute! It’s funny- I’m Carrie Anna very similar!

  6. I love Naan and I love pizza, why have I never thought of putting the two together?! Your pizzas looks great!

I love jumpers, but I am too tall to wear them, they just don’t look right. :( 27 is not too old for jumpers!

He ate the socks?!?!? That can’t be safe! He should eat the Naan instead, I’m sure its much more tasty? And safe. lol ;)

  8. I think I’m putting home-made pizza on this week’s dinner menu! I should send you a pack of socks. I literally am storing back-up socks…Marshalls had my favorite Hanes “extended size” socks (I wear an 11) for about $4 for a pack of 6 or 8…some outrageously great deal!

I need to make homemade Naan- I love it! We buy pre-made naan to use for pizza crusts all the time!

  10. Boyd looks soooooo guilty!! Hahaha. Does he literally EAT your socks, or just nibble and destroy with holes? Just to make you feel better and put your sock situation into perspective, one time my beagle decided it would be fun to jump on my hubby’s desk (home office) and get a brand new BLACK INK CARTRIDGE to chew/play with. We had black ink spilled/leaked all over our living room carpet. Yeah, I was NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! But, amazing hubby cut out the large piece of carpet and replaced it with a remnant we had in our basement… and now you can’t even tell. Now we make sure to lock up the office whenever we’re gone!!

  12. I’m totally into trying naan as a pizza crust! Sounds great! ….Did you cook all of the servings and then just save them for later?
I’m wanting to try all sorts of different pizza toppings! Looks DELICIOUS!

  13. 27 better not be too old for jumpers because I definitely have one that I plan on bringing out this summer! PS, that pizza looks super yummy!
