I made it!! Well, I’ve been here a few hours, but I had some serious catching up to with some serious VIP people (red) in my life @ Morys, Megan, & Luis!
It feels sooo good to be here.
Here’s the midnight (Dominican time) view from the balcony of my old apartment. Kevin and I got engaged in that very spot!
A lot of this feels like I never left…
My BRE set me up in the guest room with my favorite sheets — BAMBI!!! Maybe I can find room for those in my suitcase on the return trip. They are just too precious! I feel right at home back in a little twin bed in a spartan bedroom with a fan blowing directly on me. But I will say I don’t miss the long distance phone calls with Kevin!!
Hola…. everyone went to bed. I’m still in limbo between Denver/DR time. And I’ve gotten up at 5AM two too many times for one week!!! So I’m all confused.
I was able to sleep for almost 2 hours on my first flight (yay!!), but then it was time to bring on the books. I started off with The Bungalow. It had a cheery cover (yes, I judged!), and I wasn’t awake enough of the more serious books. It was an engrossing read, and I ate it up before leaving Miami. Some parts of the ending were definitely very contrived, but I don’t really have a problem with that. Overall it was a charming story.
You know I’m a big believer in airport Chinese! I didn’t eat a morsel today before 2PM so I was dying!!!
My flight schedule was obviously not planned around convenient eating times for me. I probably should’ve eaten dinner in Miami, but I had just finished lunch so I decided to stock up on some snacks.
This popcorn kinda reminded me of my beloved Pirate’s Booty!
A plethora of overpriced granolas and bars. That’s what happens when Kevin gives me “walking around” money. I didn’t eat them all today obviously, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have some stashed in my bag for this week!
I really loved this hint water. It really was just a hint of blackberry. But it helped!! You know I kinda dislike water.
My trip was pretty smooth although I did miss having Kevin to hold my passport and make sure everything runs smoothly. Funny story: on the way to the airport this morning Kevin says,”Don’t forget to pay for things.” I’m notorious for just walking away from the cash register without paying when I’m alone. Kevin’s just the more efficient credit card swiper so I generally leave it to him! Haha.
Several of you asked — I’ll be here till Tuesday. I’m not really doing the beach or touristy things — just hanging out with my long-lost friends! I have a day scheduled for each of them to make sure we get some quality time. I’ll also be visiting my old school (yay). Hoping for sunshine tomorrow. Unfortunately, it was raining when I got in tonight.
Adios!

Yay for your trip! Enjoy it!!!
Ahh i have the same problem when traveling, buy weird stuff and eat at random times
I can’t believe you don’t like water?!? You need to come to Iceland to taste the frees water in earth :]
Have a great trip! Good snack choices, too.
Hope you have an amazing trip!!!
How fun!! A little jealous. You went to school there? Do you miss it? Enjoy your stay!!
I actually taught at the school 2008-2011, and I miss it desperately.
Glad you had a safe trip! Have a nice time!
Have fun! How long will you be there?
I have a feeling your DR posts are going to make me miss belize!!
And this just day one!!
Glad you arrived safely! Have an AWESOME trip! Safe travels!
have a great time! i am also a fan of hint water. why is everything overpriced in airports? it’s like they are their own countries where international price trends hold no weight. oh well. how long did you live in the DR?
I lived here for three school years! I moved back last June to get married.
Glad you are there safe and sound! …..You’ll have a wonderful time catching up! Enjoy the sunshine and good times with friends!
