Papa’s & Pitas

DR Day #2! Megan and I got up “early” to beat the heat and make it out for a nice chatty run. Still working on readjusting to the heat & humidity. I make it about half a block before I’m sweating profusely! We ran about 3 miles, and then probably walked another 2 doing errands.

After our run, we walked over to one of the plazas for lunch. That’s something I definitely loved about living in the DR – we  walked or ran everywhere! Unless, of course it was raining. ;) We past someone selling these flowers by the side of the road. So pretty.

I have to confess this to you…

We shared a Happy Face Pizza (minus the happy face) and breadsticks from Papa John’s for lunch. Crazy buttery. It was so good but I could feel the fat seeping into my pores.

Megan had to head off to Young Life camp for the weekend so I was passed on to Yoalba duty. The calendar they planned out for me is working smoothly so far!  Not toooo much fighting over me.

That’s my Yo-Yo! Checking her hair in my iPhone!! :) We spent some time catching up this afternoon, but she had to run to a night class for a few hours. Which is fine by me… I think we all know I need a few hours by myself to handle all this excitement. Plus I have to call my poor long distance husband!

My hair is sooo dark! I think they left the dye in longer than they were supposed to… oh well. I’ve had worse shades. And it’s so crazy long when it’s straight!!

Nothing like a good, old-fashioned pita pizza. We ate these all the time when I lived here!! Do you know Irarely cooked before I got married? I’d cook for big shindigs with the kids from church, and I’d bake for thevecinos, but beyond that it was pita pizzas or chips & salsa!

While I ate, I watched an episode of Hart of Dixie. I watched one on the plane from Denver, and it reminded me of Sweet Home Alabama. I kept thinking the whole time.. who is that other doctor??? He’s not in the picture, but there’s a cast member who played VP John Hoynes on the West Wing! Got it.

Alrighty, I’m taxi-ing it over to Yo-Yo’s for a slumber party here in a little bit. And to meet her puppy!!!! I’m going to have a guest dog on the blog for you soon!! :)

Have you watched Hart of Dixie? It’s not like I’m going to keep up with watching it. But even if I did, I’m sure it’d get cancelled (if it isn’t already). That’s what always happens to shows I like. Usually 5-10 years before I start watching them. Haha.

Favorite pizza place?  Papa John’s. Well, fast food pizza place anyways.

Did you cook for yourself when you were single? Pita pizzas were actually an upgrade from my senior year habit of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos & Diet Cokes.

  1. Papa Johns is the best pizza, and we always order online so we get points for free pizzas!

I was about to comment that I didn’t realise you had such long hair! It looks awesome.

We make pita pizzas all the time – they’re so easy, and we figure that at least the base is a little bit healthier!

I don’t cook that much, unless my husband is working evenings, or I’ve got the day off. Our household is just more harmonious if he cooks – he doesn’t like it when I use ingredients like quinoa!

  3. ugh, your hair looks great and i am once again conflicted about what color to go with at my next appointment. i think dark is beautiful but i’m a natural blonde and people FREAK when i say i want to go brunette!

and i hate cooking for one, so i’m not very good at it when i live alone. i’d say it’s breakfast for dinner 3-4 times a week!

how is it that cheese + bread + tomato is acceptable for any meal anytime? for some reason you could put these ingredients in front of me at any hour of the day and i would happily consume. go you.

  5. I don’t live near any place to eat out- we’re talking 40′is miles away from any place to eat. No joke. So, I’m getting pretty good at making my own pizza! :) Ad much as I would like for someone to make the pizza for me and just get to enjoy it- I get to control what goes in all of it.
Hope that slumber party and meeting the new puppy was fun!

  6. Great hair color!
I had pizza last night but ingredients were arugula and mushrooms.
I have always kept up with cooking for myself. Nothing elaborate, but I always felt better making dinner vs. pulling it out of a box.

Love the flowers. Looks like your having a great time.

  8. I LOVE your hair!! It looks too cute–and SUPER long!
I watched Hart of Dixie–it totally reminds me of Sweet Home Alabama too! Love those accents. I made the mistake of watching it with Chase–who now criticizes ANY TV medical shows–it makes me soooooo crazy.
I did not cook a lot when I was single–it was just too much work! However, I have always been a baker–in college I was an RA so I baked all my freshman girlies tons and tons of baked goods!
