Hi friends! Just wanted to drop by and say we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming soon. I made it back to the Mile High City last night and am suffering from my 2-hour jet lag.
It really does stink since I had to get up at about 5:30 Dominican time, and then, I hadn’t seen Kevin in forever so it’s not like I was going to bed early. I had a lot of leftover Easter Jelly Bellies to help me tide me over, but I’m feeling it this morning.
I’m back at work. I’m sad to report that there are no new Vizslas available for adoption in Colorado/Wyoming. Haha. I check it daily. I have to power through today, and then I’m still planning to take half days on Thursday & Friday to get caught up on life.

Kevin surprised me with flowers… and a frying pan! Actually the frying pan wasn’t a surprise because I managed to guess it over the phone while I was still in the DR. What can I say? I know my husband well. We had bought it as a wedding gift for some friends getting married in the DR (I needed something flat that would fit in my suitcase!), and I totally wanted one! When he told me Welcome Home gift, I figured out what he had done. Isn’t he like the best husband ever? A Welcome Home gift!!
I was probably asked 100 times where Kevin was this week (trabajando!) which gave me 100 chances to brag on how wonderful he is.

The Lost Wife was my airplane read from Miami-Denver (although sadly I finished it almost an hour to soon – read slower), and it was my favorite book I read on the whole trip. I cried my eyes out. I actually liked the fact that the ending is kind of given away in the first chapter. You know I can’t handle an ending that’s completely sad!
Exercise & healthy eating update: Exercise — check! I worked out every single day. Mostly running outdoors and one trip to Yoa’s gym. Healthy eating. Not so much. I skipped breakfast every day. Many days did not eat lunch until 2. And ate a whole lot of pizza, lasagna, and KFC. I’d like to say that today is going to be a total cleanse day, but someone set out Snaps (black licorice) at work. I can resist donuts 365 days a year, but those little guys? And I’m afraid no one else will like them so I will eat them all! But seriously, ready to get back to the gym tonight and be a little more serious!!
Do you keep up healthy eating and/or exercise while on vacation? I’m pretty good about always running and getting some kind of workout in, but the healthy eating is a little tougher. I had an especially hard time since it kept on raining so much and we depend on our little legs to get us to the grocery stores and colmados!
Read any good books lately? My second favorite from the trip was The Kommandant’s Girl. I usually avoid WWII books because they inevitably make me cry, but they sucked me in! Yoa reminded me that I haven’t read Julia Alvarez yet. Duh.
P.S. Boyd was reallllllly happy to see me. And I have video evidence! Although Kevin confessed that Boyd “growls a lot less when you’re not around.” Ha!

welcome homeeee! so cute that kevin brings you gifts when you come home!! you guys are so sweet
Woo!!! Yayyyy you’re back!!! Glad Kev appreciates it too!
I agree about healthy eating on vacation – it’s definitely harder. I do love working out in new places though so I always try to work activity into my day while on vacation!
Welcome home! I’m super impressed you worked out every single day
You are truly a workout badass!!
Welcome back! Glad you made it safe and sound—- home to flowers, a pan, a husband, and a puppy!
welcome back!! I was wondering how long you were gonna be gone!
On vacays, i am typically pretty active. i dont usually do scheduled exercise like runs or gym time but we usually end up hiking, swimming, etc all day since we are outsdoorsy (well also depensd what/where vacay is). Im OKAY with eating. usually on vacay i drink a lot, not gonna lie haha
Welcome home girlie!! So what’s this I’m hearing about you wanting a 2nd dog??? Are you for sure going to get one? I have 2 now – and have mixed feelings about the situation
! – Kelly
Welcome back!!! I love sweet awesome husbands! I have one too!
Yay welcome back!! I love that he bought you a frying pan. And that book sounds good — adding it to my list!
I asked for a frying pan for mother’s day last year! Sometimes it’s the practical things that make the best gifts, and you don’t feel as bad getting the awesome one. Welcome home! And I’m going to check out the Lost Wife. Need a good read.
Aww thats so cute
I get so lazy when i travel, but i try to add some exercise on, but whenever i travel i get in the walking mood and walk all day…
Food wise, if I’m with others I follow them lol
Don’t think about too much
hey! glad you had a good trip. i’m about the same- always find time for a run when on vacay, but sometimes the meals slip. if possible i’ll share meals with friends to diversify my diet, or get a room with a fridge/mini kitchen to stock up on fruits and veggies! and always carry h2o to stay hydrated.
Welcome back! I just finished the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy – ooh, la, la! I need something calmer now, I may check out “The Lost Wife.”
Welcome home!!
I’m really good about exercising on vacation- I always do. But my eating is always horrible! I go into “vacation mode” and just eat what I want.
