Friday Night at the Rockies Game!

One of Kevin’s co-workers has season tickets to the Rockies and he was nice enough to give us tickets to last night’s game! I loved how excited Kevin was to go to the game! He was like a little boy. When he got home from work, he was hustling. Usually I’m totally the one having to shove him out the door!!

Kevin claims he’s still a Twins fan, but we had fun getting decked out in Rockies attire. I’m bummed that their color is purple. Yuck! So I chose the shirt that only had purple on the cap sleeves. I’d like to wear a hat, but let’s face it, I need to wear my glasses during the game or I’m not going to see a thing!

It was weird. We could actually see the players. I’ve never been that close at a game before! I’m used to just looking at the screen! Kevin promised me before we left that we were sitting in a section where the ball wouldn’t go too much. I’m terrified of getting hit by the ball. I don’t know why I was so scared. There were a bunch of first grade-ish looking boys who brought their baseball gloves to the game. But, surprise, surprise, someone hit a home run into our section!

Kevin was thrilled – and shocked – by how much I got into the game. I didn’t even break out my magazine! But it was a really good game! And my iPhone wasn’t getting that good of service. Haha. The most recent baseball games I’ve been to were all in Santiago so I couldn’t help comparing all the differences between the two. No macarena??? No cheerleaders? No air horn thingies?! It was so quiet!!  At least one player had Danza Kaduro as his at-bat song! Finally something I recognized!! Haha.

We didn’t even end up buying any concessions because we read online before we left that we could bring our own! King Sooper’s it is! Jalapeño Cheetos, Swedish Fish, and Diet Cokes! I really only ate them when the Braves were batting. I was especially glad because I’m not a huge fan of traditional baseball food like hot dogs or peanuts. Although I was checking out some of the soft serve ice cream and cotton candy!!

I got some additional entertainment from these fatty fratty Braves fans who were sitting nearby. Their little Braves cheer is so ridiculous. I had to tell Kevin at least twenty times how stupid they looked.  It was hilarious too because some Rockies fans started yelling things at them like,”GO BACK TO ATLANTA. THERE’S A REASON YOU MOVED HERE!!!” Haha. But it kept things interesting. Sadly, the Rockies lost in the extra innings (it was close!!!!!!!), but I’m hoping we go to some more games this year!

Did you ever play tball/softball/baseball? A lot of jokes are passed around in my family regarding my softball career in about second grade. I loved to play right behind the first baseman because the ball never got hit there. But I was a pretty good hitter, and I looked glam in those white breeches! You know I only did it because Deidre was on the team!! Haha.

My co-star, Kevin, used to play co-ed softball in Winona. Except that he always got injured. I liked to run around the lake while he played.

Do you boo at games? I always really think it’s fun to do, but I usually don’t know when to. I did help boo the obnoxious Atlanta fans a little. ;)

What’s your favorite sport to watch? Well, running is obviously #1. Also figure skating and gymnastics. Baseball is my favorite of the super traditional sports to watch.

Love baseball games. Terrified of getting hit by the ball! It’s my biggest fear!! haha

I’ve never watched baseball, it’s not at all popular here. But, we’re going to a Rockies game in June! I managed to get super cheap tickets for the night before we fly home, so we are probably in a terrible spot but at least we’ll get to experience it all!

Haha one thing I’m looking forward to is eating hot dogs and drinking beer. Do they do giant pretzels at baseball games? If so I want one of those too!

  4. I looove baseball games!!! I agree — I absolutely HATE the Braves cheer! Anytime the play the Phillies (“my” team!) I can barely watch because of that stupid chant every 2 minutes!

I went to a freezing cold Rockies game earlier this year…I’d like to go to another when it’s warm, but honestly, I’m much more of a soccer fan. You should definitely try to get to a Colorado Rapids game if you can.

  6. I usually only watch soccer games live, and I will definitely boo a bad call by the ref. It’s so fun to do for some strange reason. Poor refs, they get picked on a lot. They can never make everyone happy.

I’ve been to a Rockies game! I’m not too much of a baseball fan, but it is such a different experience when you are in the middle of the action. Good tip about the snacks, because concession prices are ridiculous.

  8. How fun! You two look super cute and happy- LOVE IT! ….I’ve never been to a pro baseball game so I think that would be fun.
You could bring your own snacks! AWESOME!!!! That would make the game 1,000 x better to bring your own snacks and not pay and arm and a leg for a soda!

hey! i used to play baseball in middle school too.

  10. anything jalapeño is so mine in my books! It is so much better when you can bring your own snacks, way cheaper and better quality. Looks like a fun game!
