We ventured a little out of comfort zone tonight and tried out a little hipster hot spot in the Baker neighborhood – Sputnik.
I loved this Yelp review — spot on!
And maybe my glasses aren’t chunky enough, arms not tattooed enough, and jeans not tight enough, but it’s awful loud for 7pm on a weeknight. But maybe I’m just getting old.
I’m pretty sure I actually was the only one in there without a tattoo. But we had a good time! And the food was good! They had some kind of dj playing records… loudly. It was interesting.
Mac ‘n’ Cheese! The menu was a bit different from the one online so I had to make a quick choice (happy hour prices were ending, and Kevin wanted to order off that menu). But they also offer some good vegan options and such GREAT late night snacks like grilled cheese, fries, etc. They’re open till 2AM!
Hot date! Kevin had some kind of bbq pork slider and a HUGE basket of french fries which he kindly shared with me.
Cute exterior. We wandered around the neighborhood since it was a beautiful evening and we’d not been in that part of the city before.
Kites!!! Some fun store fronts in the hood!
Earlier….
You know Boyd is tired when he snoozes this close to my sweaty socks without even attempting to eat them! We jogged in the park for 1.5 miles, and that puppy was spent!
After the warm-up in the park, I hit the gym to do some speed work on the treadmill.
- 400 meters
- 800 meters
- 1200 meters
- 1600 meters
I rested 1 minute in between each distance, and ran a total of 2.61 in 21:01 @ 8:03 pace (including the 1 minute walking breaks). I realized afterwards that I did the workout backwards… I was supposed to start with the longest distance. That would’ve made more sense. Oh well!
What was your favorite date in May? What are you looking forward to in June? Can you believe it’s almost June. Month with my favorite day, Kevin’s birthday, and our first anniversary!! Yay!!

So if you were the only one there without a tatoo, where is Kevin’s? Do I even want to know?
That place looks FUN!! Mac and Cheese…yes please! HA! That rhymes! As always…love that little Boyd!
Obviously, I’m going to say that my favorite “day” in May was actually the entire time I was in Colorado.
I’m SO GLAD June is here! ONE WEEK of school left!!! I thought it would never come.
Did you walk by Sweet Action ice cream? It’s pretty much my favorite ice cream place in the city. Check in out next time! Their baklava ice cream is my favorite.
We did!!! There was a line well out the door so I was curious about it!!!!!
That mac n cheese looks delish. I think I am in the mood for some comfort food. I’m jealous of your date nights. You two are so cute.
Haha love that review! I always feel like my grandma whenever I think a restaurant is “too loud.”
I love funky places like that! it looks super good.
Sounds like a very interesting place- but hey- as long as the food is good! Mac’N'Cheese at 2am- I bet it is delicious at 2am!!
I’m looking forward to the sunny weather and doing more running in June. My favorite day in May was going running to Mt Tabor and then going wine tasting with friends!
Sputnik is very busy bar even on weekdays!
