Cinzetti’s Splurge + Field Trip

Oh my berries.

Unplanned Splurge.

Cream Puff + Bread Pudding + Cannoli + Espresso Gelato.

And I ate a carby Italian meal before that!! Crazy, right? Well, I was out on a “team building activity” with my co-workers, and our boss treated us to lunch at Cinzetti’s Italian Market. I had no clue what restaurant we were going to ahead of time. No time to mentally prepare myself. Haha. I already had a game plan in mind which was to order some kind of salad with grilled chicken. They have that everywhere, right? Nope. Not at Cinzetti’s. The only salad they had was dripping in a house dressing.

So I threw the baby out with the bathwater and sampled a bunch of dishes that looked good, ate two breadsticks and ate that magnificent dessert plate pictured above. Totally worth it!! Bread pudding is my favorite dessert, and I can’t remember the last time I had a cream puff. And all desserts Kev-Kev basically doesn’t care for so we would probably never have at home.

And then I had to go back to work for four hours on a super full stomach. That was really lame. I’m glad I took the picture. I feel like I’m still enjoying it by looking at the picture. Haha. By the way, I took that picture just to taunt Kevin who was eating leftovers by his lonesome. Awwwwwwa!!!

By the way, Cinzetti’s is pretty great. I probably need to take my dad. They have an entire gelato bar of like 20 flavors, and it’s amazing! He could just sit there and literally try a bowl of every flavor!!

My co-workers and I also took a little trip to a lumber yard for a field trip – it’s a location our corporate office in Denver supports. It was really boring, but I looked cute in a hard hat. I’m sure you’re all as disappointed as I am that I wasn’t able to snap a picture of myself. But it was very awkward with so many strange employees  and business people watching my every move.

Sad day. We tossed our Christmas tree. I think it’s been dead for months.

I wasn’t even tempted to try to burn off those desserts tonight. I’ve been pretty stinking sore since that Bob workout so I nice walk/jog was planned. Kevin and I felt like we hadn’t had a chance to talk much the last few days so it gave us a chance to catch up. Walking + talking is the best!

Kevin James manned the grill tonight so I had some chicken tenders and sweet potato fries. So delicious.

Boyd on a magic carpet ride…

I should teach him to bark out A Whole New World. I feel that could get us popular on YouTube!

Hey, check this out:

Cool fruit in season posters from Chasing Delicious. The also have ones for vegetables & herbs. I think I need one in my new kitchen.

It’s crazy storming out right now!!!!!!

Favorite Italian-style dessert? I really love tiramisu, but I didn’t see any there today. Not like I needed more.

How long did you keep your Christmas up? Did you beat us? Lol.

  1. Must make sweet potato fries now that I saw that picture! Yum! I love pretty much any dessert. Is gelato italian? Because I love that. I take my decorations down pretty close to the new year. If not, they will stay up till next Christmas.

  2. I like that fruit calendar thing, I’d love to have one for veggies too!

PS I went to whole foods the other day to look for that super spicy chilli thing that you told us about and they didn’t have it! I was super bummed b/c I’d been really excited about trying it…

  3. Haha! I love that you still had Christmas stuff up. The longest we’ve kept stuff up was from the first of November until the end of January. So you definitely still beat us. ;)

I love the in-season fruits chart! Super cute. Thanks for the reference. :)

Creme Brule? Is that Italian? Love that stuff. That pic of the Christmas tree and sad Kevin is awesome

  5. 20 flavors of gelato! Whoa, that is impressive. Sounds like a worth it and well deserved splurge to me!

Uuhhhh bread pudding. SO good. SO worth it too (if you don’t eat it every day!)

  7. That place sounds like heaven to this girl- I have been missing amazing Italian food since I moved back out to the middle of nowhere. Each bite must have been delicious!!!

Yum! Gelato bar sounds delicious!! Our Christmas tree stays up for like a month and that’s it… You guys might have a world record there ;)

  9. Mmm…I love bread pudding and don’t eat it nearly enough. At one of my favorite restaurants here in Orlando, they occassionally make a Nutella bread pudding. Talk about delicious!

  10. I worked at a small Italian restaurant from about age 13-23 (I was a rockin’ waitress at age 13!) The Friday fish fry (typical WI) included a fried donut dessert – it was a hot, straight out of the fryer, into sugar and cinnamon. Staff was known to *maybe* eat the leftovers at the end of the night or even take them home to heat up for breakfast!

  11. oh, super cute and informative poster. i love geeky info that is presented in an attractive manner! ahhh, aren’t work lunches the best? it’s usually really good and indulgent food, and the whole time you’re thinking “darn, this would have been such a nice meal to share with someone i love rather than this awkward man from the cubicle next to me.” glad you went for it! RIP Christmas tree.

  12. ummm your last post I actually focused on the mexican lettuce wraps and Bob’s WOD that I totally didn’t even see about the house!!!!!! Hello queen of skimming… That is so exciting!! I am super jealous of your kitchen and you totally need the fruit and veggie calendars!!!

  13. Oh Cinzettis. I’m surprisingly really good when I go to a buffet. The variety of choices overwhelm me, and I end up not eating much haha, but I love their gelato!
