Oh boy. I guess somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed!
But cute Kevin made me laugh by saying this:

I woke up early and did a little yoga and a little housework, and yeah, I made French toast. But I was just a little cranky. I guess I’m not a fan of working in the summer? I didn’t work the past three summers. And I liked it that way!! Summers are not made for being cooped up on the 12th floor. But I’ll say it again. I’m thankful for my job. The crazy part is that it’s the best paying job I’ve ever had. Weird, huh?
This little drummie at lunch time definitely brightened up my day. You know what they say – A day without ice cream is like a day without sunshine! I loved this little guy, only 110 calories!
Quick run to Qdob-s after work for some guacamole!!! I was thinking all day that I wanted an avocado, but I have the worst time getting them from Sooper’s/getting them ripe on time. It was totally worth the few bucks to have some good guacamole!!! I’m so doing this again!
We had an outdoor run on our verbal calendar for tonight, but I halfways tried to back out of it. It was 90+ degrees and the sun was BLAZING at 5PM. Surprisingly, Kevin James was the one who suggested it “wouldn’t be that bad” and we should just do it anyways!! Ha!!
Today’s Workout: Triple Fast Slow
A variation on a fartlek (aka speed play) run, in this session runners take turns implementing three speed surges at the pace and duration of their choice, recovering as much as needed. After these three repeats, the other runner has the chance to take the lead. (via active.com)
I was a LITTLE nervous that we would get too competitive with this, but I think the heat licked some sense into us. We ran to a park specifically so we could get some agua.
Thirsty!
We ran 5.64 in 45:47 @ 8:08 pace. There were a LOT of stoplights on our way sooooo we had a few extra breaks. Either way we came back crazy thirsty and ravenous.
Best Buffalo Chicken Nachos Ever: Red hot blues + refried beans + 2% Mexican cheese + Qdoba guac + spinach + grilled chicken + buffalo sauce.
Not even going to try to convince you that this was healthy, but it was amazing. And we only ate what was on our plates rather than the entire bag of chips. It took restraint!! Lol. Yum!!!!!!
Ever run with a partner? It’s tricky, right? I get a lot of comments on how lucky I am to have Kevin to work out with. True. But RARELY are we equally trained… or (just as important) in an equally good mood. Haha. I haven’t run much with people who run more than me (except D-A-D!!), but I imagine that would be harder. I love running & chatting too so it’s all good!!! Also: 5 running workouts to do with a partner. We’ll probably try them all and do a little show & tell.
Favorite nacho toppings? Guacamole is my #1.
What do you when you wake up cranky? Make French toast apparently. Lol. Just kidding. I usually turn on some music right away in the morning, read my Soul Detox, and just get to it!!!

I am all over guac nachos. I also like black beans, cilantro, jalapenos, onions, and tofu!
I run with max once a week or so. I always run way to fast when I’m with him and feel like dying the last mile or so. I’m with ya on the guacamole. I’ll pay good money for some good stuff.
I agree that summers aren’t meant for working a desk job! I used to work as a camp counselor or as a church intern when I was in college so they were super laid back jobs. Since college I’ve been a nanny in the summers and that was amazing too. This is my second summer working a desk job in the summer and it is no fun at all, haha!

i LOVE guac!!! we have a mexican place that makes it SO good!!! I have always been a solo runner except when I’m home and I run with my sister BUT I’m hoping to start doing track workouts with a friend who’s super fast and hopefully she’ll rub off on me!
Guac is DEF my #1 fave nacho topping!!
Guac is nice, but MANGO SALSA is the best!!!! mmmmmmm… It’s decided: I’m getting some a Qdoba for lunch.

Avocados are definitely a must with any Mexican food. So delicious. The best thing for me to do when I wake up cranky is to just go back to bed. If only that was possible everyday.
I always try to run with friends 1-2 times a week. It’s a good way to keep up with my buddies and change up my normal solo runs! Your dinner looks so good! Chips + Guac is totally acceptable!
Oh man I am obsessed with avocados! Here’s a tip- if you want them to ripen quicker, wrap them in a newspaper and store them in a drawer. Other than guac, I love salsa & Greek yogurt on my nachos
