Boyd stayed up late last night helping me prep for Kevin’s big b-day!!!
He’s surprisingly more docile after midnight and didn’t seem to mind when I draped crepe streamers all over him!
We stayed up until 2AM hanging streamers, wrapping gifts, Google mapping, and writing out some envelopes with instructions for Kevin’s birthday adventures.
My trickiest mission was to create a crepe streamer trail leading from Kevin’s bedside table to his stack of envelopes while he was sleeping. I guess I’m a good creeper because I didn’t wake him up!! Even when Boyd tried to sneak in behind me!!!
I had to hustle Kevin James out the door this morning because I had a ton of super fun activities planned. Stop #1 — pick up some balloons!
Step #2 — grab some B Cycles! And follow the directions…. Kevin had NO CLUE what we were up to today. I was a little nervous because I’m not super familiar with downtown Denver. But it all worked out - with the help of the smartphones!
Traveling in a festive fashion!
It was farther than I thought… but eventually we made it!
I did some hard core Googling to find the perfect breakfast place for my husband’s sweet tooth and it landed us at Buffalo Doughboy Bakery.
Our bikes looked too cute parked outside!
The bakery offered a huge variety of sweets & snacks — it was fun just to peruse!
Kevin chose the CROCODILE! I knew he would. It had green apples and nuts…. most closely resembles apple crisp!
I selected a savory pastory called Turkey Next Door – stuffed with spinach, cheese, and turkey. They were both ENORMOUS, flaky, and delicious. Kevin ended up getting half of mine because I’m just not a huge breakfast person.
We were super thirsty from our bike ride there so we also ordered a frozen cappucino!
They were so sweet and gave it to us for free. I guess they noticed Kevin’s birthday crown!!
We loved this bakery… wishing it was closer to our new house, but we can always bike on over!! And that took us until about 10AM… but I’m done blogging for the night!! So stay tuned for Kevin’s further birthday adventures. We’re wrapping up the day by relaxing and watching some Sherlock Holmes movie… at least they are using Schubert music!!
What’s your favorite bakery item? I loved the Turkey Next Door, and I’m probably choose something on that order of things rather than something sweet. But if it was all sweets, I’d choose a cinnamon roll. If it had LOTS of frosting.
Any favorite birthday traditions?! This was Kevin’s first birthday that we’ve been married, so really the first that we’ve spent the whole day together even. So we’re still working on it. I’m already thinking how I can surprise him again next year! But yeah, we do like to spoil each other rotten. And Kevin is pretty much game for anything. LOVE that about him!!!
