Old South Pearl Street Farmers Market, Denver Pie Truck, & AikoPops

Okay… most FAQ yesterday – Where did I get those candles? I had no idea they would be such a hit. I love tall candles so I did a quick search for them on Amazon (I love you, Prime shipping) and found these Tag Twisted Style Party Candles ($4.99 for 24).

Happy 1 year to us!!!!!!!

I have a few wedding/marriage related posts coming up, but I’m going to keep it simple for now and share some of our highlights from today!

Kevin James woke up early and told me he had to run an errand and he’d BRB!

That’s exactly what I was hoping for!! Starbucks always really really cheers me up in the morning!! I’m going to be honest — we hadn’t planned a whole lot for the day and I was afraid it was going to be a disappointment. I’m definitely one to get my hopes up about things and have a lot of anticipation (is that noticeable??! – lol). It just was NOT good timing for us to go out of town, and we weren’t sure we wanted to be out in the sun in another 100 degree day since we were both already a little fried from Kevin’s bday!

Kevin also cooked up some breakfast in bed. I’m seriously in love with the fried eggs with hot sauce he makes. It’s amazing. He served it with an everything bagel thin. Perfect breakfast!! I can’t stop raving over those eggs. I could eat them at least twice a day!!

Boyd tried to sneak in and join us…. and it worked because when I snapped this picture, I noticed the flowers behind Boyd.

Awwwa… sunflowers.

And cards from our parents. We figured this was the third time Kevin has bought me flowers in the three years we’ve been together. Haha. I tend to prefer food or running shoes.

After hanging out for a while, we had the idea to go to the Old South Pearl Street Farmers Market. We’ve been wanting to go for a while, but it’s on Sundays which generally conflicts with our church services/Sunday school (we were skippers today).

Best farmers market ever!!! I’ve admittedly only been to ones in small towns, but it was so exciting!

One of the first things we happened across was a face painting station. At first, I walked past it, but then I had this wonderful idea!! The lady was more than happy to create a 1 year anniversary tat for us!!! :)

While I was getting mine done, I spied this AikoPops cart and sent Kevin on a mission to bring me back a Coconut Curry!

Y-um!!! I had to do a little dance to keep the drips off! So stinking hot!!

The No Longer Boys Bluegrass Band was there braving the heat, and I stood there as long as I could stand it, but there wasn’t much shade. I’d love to go to a concert of theirs! I haven’t been able to find a website for them, but I see they are playing tomorrow night in Evergreen. Don’t think I’m going to make that one!!

Kevin chose pie from the Denver Pie Truck as his treat. This cute kid was there helping his out his dad. Look at that grin!! I made Kevin give him a tip to make up for me calling him “cute.”

I couldn’t even snap a picture before Kevin forked into his Strawberry Rhubarb.

They also had a Lemon Meringue and a Chocolate Pecan that sounded really good. I told Kevin we’ll have to try the 4/$24 deal when my family is in town. Kevin claims that a pie this size cannot be shared. Ha! He had it down within a block.

And the pie truck box — because I really love cute boxes. And there you have all their info. :)

Proof that there were vegetables there…. but we didn’t buy any.

More anniversary maƱana!!! xoxoxooxo

Do you shop at a farmers market? And actually buy produce? We’ll do better next time!!! It was our annivesary. That’s our excuse anyways.

What’s your favorite kind of pie? I like meringues. I actually really like Sourr Cream Raisin pie… that’s weird, right? I wonder if Kevin likes it. Probably not since we like the exact opposite desserts.

Happy 1 year!! We’ll be celebrating ours in Breckenridge in a few weeks (!!). I love farmers markets, but the one by my house isn’t that great. I really want to hit up the big one in Boulder when we’re there on a Saturday. And man- pie? One of my favorite desserts ever (fave is ice cream). I can’t pick a favorite, but strawberry rhubarb is up there. Also peach, apple, coconut cream, wild blueberry… I could go on for a long time.

  7. Happy Anniversary!! Our one year is just around the corner & like you, we have no real plans. A day just like yours would be a-okay with me, looks like you had such a fun day. :)

  16. I go to the farmers market every Saturday–and I am one of those that goes for the veggies – not the hot cheesy garlic bread or pastries :)
