Turn Up The Tunes

I had a new cereal this week that I thought you should know about.

I thought it was going to be SUPER exotic with the almonds, pumpkin seeds, flakes, & clusters. In fact, I was still fooled after the first day, thinking that all the good stuff had sunk to the bottom of the box. Such an optimist. 3 days into it, I think it just has an underwhelming amount of goods. Mostly flakes. It’s still good, but I’ve been measuring out just a cup because I feel the calorie count is a little on the high side. Kevin got a banana flavor that I think is mostly just a repackaging of their old Banana Nut Crunch. But what am I to say? It worked on us!

Today’s WOD:

Well, my workout energy has been low this week. I think I’m still on birthday/anniversary cake hangover!! Is that even possible!?!?! So I decided to try this experiment from One Fit Foodie. The general idea is that you choose a set a moves and perform As Many Rounds As Possible for the duration of the song.

Here’s what mine looked like… No need judge the music choices. I don’t really have music on my phone so I had to rely on Pandora. Otherwise there’d probably be some Enrique.

Loca - Shakira

Cupid Shuffle

It Girl – Jason Derulo

Waka, Waka - Shakira

Call Me Maybe

Not sure why I have that weird Bambi look, but I chose it over the smile for you guys.

I was surprised that I only made it through about 2 rounds per song. Even a bit less on the burpee broad jumps round!! It took a little planning — I scribbled out ideas while I was doing a little warm-up walk on the treadmill. I browsed through and found a bunch of the moves on the Nike Training Club app (FREE!!! AWESOME!!!).

Afterwards, I jogged it out and did a few random sprints.

I actually found some decent avocados so we’ve been enjoying them with little taco salads.

Here’s a nice idea I found while Kevin was being responsible and paying for our groceries:

That, my friends, is straight from Diabetic Living! But it’s a good idea, especially for people who really prefer not to drink water.

What’s your favorite workout music? I mostly listen to Pandora stations, but I should put music on my iPod because I’m a chronic skipper and the commercials cause treadmill rage!

Favorite cereal? I’m wishing for those PB Cheerios back in my life.

Healthiest cereal? We’ve been eating a lot more eggs & oatmeal lately because I’m not impressed with most cereals. But this week Kevin has been dragging me to work like a half hour earler — those are cereal days!!!

my favorite pandora stations to work to: avicii (electronic), the naked and famous (indie pop) and backstreet boys. :) and i do love many of the songs you put on your playlist!

  2. That’s an awesome idea to change up a workout. My playlist is seriously crappy, so no judging from me!

  3. I’m currently obsessed with Cinnamon Chex. It tastes exactly like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but it’s healthier (totally made that up, but I’m convinced it is and refuse to actually look at the nutrition facts). I love listening to the HipHop&Pop workout station on Pandora. I just zone out when I want to skip since I’m convinced the more you skip the more commercials you have to listen to.

  4. That dinner looks delicious!

  5. Sorry the cereal was a disappointment. :( No fun! I really like Puffins Peanut Butter cereal – yum! And Cascadian Farms’ Cinnamon Crunch! YUMMY!

  6. Darnit! That cereal looks good, but I’m glad to hear your review before buying it & being disappointed myself. :)
I’m all about Pandora for workouts because I just never get around to making playlists. I usually put on something like Black Eyed Peas radio because it’s always really fast-paced, motivating music.
Love PB Cheerios! And pretty sure my all time favorite is Cap’n Crunch. The painful roof of the mouth after eating is totally worth it.

I saw that cereal the other day and wasn’t sure if I would like it but now I just might have to pick it up :)
    great workout!

  8. That’s a cool idea for a workout – I’m embarrassed to say it, but I’m sure call me maybe would have pumped me up at the end :)

  9. ha! i think the music is fun!!! you have such a cool lookin blog!

love me some PB puffins and I’m so happy you found some avocados!! yippee!!

  11. It’s like a workout orchestra! I love it. :)

I just bought a healthy cereal I’m having a had time finishing – and I normally have a good tolerance!

  12. diabetic daily eh? pb cheerios sound good- have you tried banana? those are also quite tasty. i drink a ton of h2o and when i get tired of it i buy sparkling. what a treat!

Oooh – Great Grains Protein?? I’ve never seen that before! I’ll have to check it out.

Also – love the summertime lemonade ice cube recipe – that’s too cute!

love love the workout concept! I am a weirdo who loves any sort of burpee…so burpee broad jumps always make me smile :) and my play list wouldn’t look much different..I quick mix my workout music usually between a Kesha station, Maroon 5, and Brooks and Dunn station

  15. Love that ice cube idea! Though I have no problem drinking enough water :) . I just got a box of Attune cereals to try and they look great!

LOL @ the “Bambi” face reference!
I actually lift weights according to the As many rounds as possible per song method all the time. It’s the only way I do it! Keeps my attention span occupied haha and I like switching the moves soo often!

  17. The ice cube idea is Great Corrie Anne. I love to drink water but would like a little flavor in it sometimes. I could freeze Crystal Light into ice cubes and use them. Excellent!

  18. I love your workout music of choice – all have such a great beat! Is it weird that I would rather go for oats than cereal…so much more satisfying! Favorite cereal is Bran Flakes but if we’re not taking into account healthy, I love Krave cereal (it’s filled with hazelnut chocolate)!
