Saturday Salad + Bust-O-Rama

Now here’s a salad the 16-year-old version of Corrie Anne would have been totally disgusted by. Maybe even 25-year-old Corrie. What can I say? My taste buds are dying, but I’m getting better nutrients?

Broccoli slaw + chopped baby kale + apple + craisins + almonds + sesame seeds + balsamc + feta. I love broccoli slaw. And I’ve learned that if I chop kale or other leafy greens more finely, I don’t mind them so much.

What’s on that beautiful half sandwich, you ask? Man, my house is a regular Panera!

Allow me a HLB second to say that — I love this nut butter. The little coconut flavor is amazing. I brought Kevin a knife-full to taste because I’m such a good wife.

This morning…

I did some Saturday morning yoga. You know who’s NOT a good yoga pal?

Boyd J Kreisel. I should have locked him in the bathroom, but he looked so peaceful in his little corner. I put in this Element Power Yoga first. I hated it. Lol. I feel like I always say that I like things on my blog. But in real life, there are a lot of things I don’t like (BANANAS!!! TUNA!! SCARY MOVIES!!). And I didn’t like that yoga dvd either. They tricked me. It had “power” in the name so I thought it would be a snappy little workout. Nope. The lady was humming at the beginning. I just was not a fan of that. I tried to give it more of a chance, but I didn’t want to.

So I put it the Aim True. Ahhh. That’s better. I like how she talks a lot about yoga + your sense of humor. And she wears head-to-toe-orange. Can’t go wrong with that!

Boyd learned what that mat was for!!!!

And then I did TurboFire Fire 45… Guys, I just have to say that I had my Bodybugg on (buggiest app ever – do not buy) and those dvds burn as much calories as RUNNING!!!!! I was really surprised. I shouldn’t be because you are bouncing all over the place like crazy! Anyways, it was a good workout to bring back on a hot day. Man, I love the music on those dvds. I didn’t even crank it as loud as I wanted to because Kevin was doing homework.

And then I spent 2 hours here:

I talked to Mom and spent the whole time walking a loop up the stairs, down the hall, down the stairs, repeat in my apartment complex (too sunny outside!!). That burned about 500 calories. Sweet, right? I should have worn my Garmin. Haha.

Last night…

Unbelievably tough workout. Let me tell you. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Busters > Burpees!

Like a weighted burpee + a squat thrust.

Here’s the workout from GPP:

Every minute on the minute for 20 minutes complete:

busters 15/20 ea.

20 minutes straight of those!!!! 15 pounds??? I knew that wasn’t going to happen!! I tried 8. I completed all the reps, but I had to pause during the second half. My arms were super shaky when I finished. I’m not letting Kevin off the hook. He did 12 rounds before he conveniently had to go answer a mortgage-related email. Haha.

And then we walked/talked for 2 miles. I think walking and talking is UNDERRATED. It’s the perfect way to kind of de-stress and talk things out on a Friday afternoon. Loved it.

And just talking about all those workouts makes me need snack pronto!!

But first a little question:

Do you drink tea? If so, what kind? I’m convinced we could become tea drinkers. At least one a week, I try to convince Kevin we should buy it. He eventually wears down and says “yes.” And then I’m like,”no, we won’t like it.” And I put it back. This particular invigorating blend almost got me last night. Or do bloggers just like coffee? That seems possible.

Do you ever walk & talk? It’s like free exercise. ;)

P.S. Go try a buster. I dare you!

I hate that workout! But I love it! It’s a weird thing.

  2. I like green tea & lots of herbal teas but I just can’t get into regular ol’ iced tea. It just doesn’t do it for me. When it’s really hot out like this, I’ll take a few bags of green tea (some flavored, some regular) & throw them in a pitcher filled with water & lemon slices. I let it “cold brew” for a few hours & it’s super refreshing.

  3. I drink a lot of peppermint tea in the Fall/Winter months. The Tazo passionfruit tea is very fruity and tasty and works well as an iced tea.

  4. I love a good iced green tea with some lemon on a hot day. Totally refreshing, so I think you guys should try it! I’m tempted to go buy it actually. Oh, and I also think walking and talking is underrated…I’m always trying to drag people to go outside to walk around and talk.

  5. I love hot green tea! I don’t use any sweetener with it.

  6. That coconut peanut butter sounds amazing…best of both worlds! You NEED to get on the tea bandwagon…I’m addicted! I love fruity teas, especially apple & cinnamon! For the most part, I drink herbal /green teas but sometimes nothing beats a milky cup of English breakfast!

that coconut oil peanut butter is SOOO good – I think my jar was gone within a week :)

  8. I’m about to go for a walk talk right now! And I drink lots of herbal teas, but my favorite is rooibos with honey and lemon.
