Awwa… my last day at work was actually really bittersweet.
Okay, I was all smiles! I couldn’t help it, but my co-workers were too cute. They bought me a whole big bag of gifts “something to remind me of them in every room.” Oh boy!! Lol. And we partied it up eating Italian ice in the conference room. Lol. And I felt kind of sad because I was just starting to come out of my little introvert shell at that job and starting to act like I owned the place. I was cracking jokes right and left. Haha. Oh well. I’m sure I’ll be equally jovial in my home office with Boyd.
I’m not going to miss floor 12!!!! Or the office environment. So not for me. I cleaned up my desk, turned in my badge, recycled all the papers I couldn’t remember what I was doing with, and passed the rest down to the temp below me. Haha.
I packed boxes for a bit at home, and then it was time to go to our closing. We hit a random streak of ZERO traffic and got there super early.
So we spent 15 minutes in the Dazbog coffee shop on the first floor.
I managed to humiliate myself while ordering. The barista asked me what size I want, and I couldn’t think of English for Grande. Lol. I only speak coffee in Starbucks. Kevin swooped in and reduced me with a confident “medium!” Role reversal!!!!!!
Ready to sign our names 1,000 times! I think I got the “e” before “i” correct every time! My last name is still tricky even after a year.
Our spunky little super realtor brought the PARTY to the closing table. She showed up with a picnic basket and sparkling apple cider. She was so fun and lighthearted. I was so thankful we had a realtor like her who we didn’t necessarily mind being stuck in traffic with or brainstorming about houses with. And she always had great Denver tips for us!
After the closing, we stopped by our new house to pick up the keys.
Our first time visiting the house without pesky people lurking around. We got to play with some of our new toys and find some little treasures the sellers left us.
I feel so spoiled to have a fridge with an ice maker & water! I’ve never had that. Ever. Such a fun luxury.
I <3 power boil!!!!
Haha. They left a steak for Kevin James!!! They were moving all the way out to NY so I guess they just had to empty their fridge. They also left us a partial balance on a gift certificate to a nearby restaurant. How sweet are they? And the place is spotless. I can’t believe the chance since yesterday! They must have had an army of movers & cleaners. It smells a little bit like cats! But that will go away soon enough.
A sink with a thing that can be pulled out into a sprayer!! Ha. I can spray Kevin and Boyd!!! And no moms around to yell at me! It’s my house!!!
Maybe I’ll get Josiah first! He never reads my blog because he thinks all the food I make is disgusting (with the obvious exception of cookies. He even funded a Cookie Friday once).
Speaking of cookies, can’t wait to break that kitchen in. It might happen tomorrow!
And speaking of breaking things…
Ooooooooooops! I couldn’t leave our new house without breaking something. Our bathroom has a fake drawer. I didn’t know. I didn’t even pull that hard. And that’s Kevin’s hand paired with my foot, in case you’re wondering if I have manly hands or if Kevin is wearing bow shoes.
Yep. It’s broken. We’ll have to find a new one. Hahahaha. Smooth.
Let’s look at the giant pantry to take our minds off the broken hardware. Lol.
We also found some boxes! We were going to pick some up on the way back to the apartment since we were a few short! Perfect!
And a Swiffer & a Shark in the side closet!!!! I get the feeling they were kind of neat freaks and are trying to give me a hint. But I’m really excited about that swiffer. It has like a tank on it!!!!!
We celebrated with some pizza & jalapeño poppers at Little Ricci’s… this week is taking its toll on Just Jot It, but I’m persevering. The poppers were really amazing.
But, oh how they won my heart with bread by the door when we were waiting for a table!
I normally wouldn’t eat that kind of extra carbs before a meal, but after all the packing and driving all the way across Denver while starving — I thought it’d be good for our marriage. Took one for the team. More accurately, I took two. Lol.
Moving Day is mañana! And it looks a lot like rain… I need rain boots!!!!! Preferably pink fold-up ones.
What’s your FAVORITE thing about where you live? It’s gonna be my kitchen & my piano. In our apartment it’s how close we were to our offices. So close.
Do you own rain boots? I used to have some really cute Paul Frank ones. Long before they sold out and started selling a Target line. Haha. But I wore them out while living in the DR. We had to wear them to protect ourselves from the giant rats!

CONGRATS!!! So awesome! Your new house looks beautiful!
Funny thing is, I never know how to order coffee at Starbucks, and don’t even try to speak the lingo. I just say “medium.”
imagine all the things you can put in that pantry!!!! my suggestion: chocolate and more chocolate
i could never work in an office environment either, it’s too dull and monotone. im happy you’re done with it!!
I literally am LOLing reading this post. And Alex is saying, ‘what is so damn funny?!’ while he plays his video games. I got my rainbootz at Nordstrom Rack last fall for like, $25! They’re a name brand that I can’t remember – and for a while, they were my snow boots too. Then Alex moved in and made me get REAL winter clothes and shoes.
Your new house looks so lovely!! I’m so excited for you two. I mean three (how does Boyd feel about it?) I’m totally jealous
Congrats! That is so exciting!!
I would be excited about the little things too..I love my parents ice maker!!
ahhh! congrats! I cannot wait for the after pictures!
That pantry is awesome!! I hate our pantry right now, sooo tiny!
I remember the first time we got a fridge with an ice maker I was obsessed with it! I think my water consumption sky rocketed during those months
congrats, this is so exciting for you. can’t wait to make it your home.
congrats on the new house, old job! the steak is about the funniest thing ever. don’t worry about pizza. life is too short right.
Congratulations on the home!!! It look amazing! Good luck with the move!
Good luck with the move! Can’t wait to see more photos of the house!
The home looks beautiful. That pantry! Wow. I miss my pantry in my old condo. Current home–favorite thing has to be the building courtyard – it’s like a little urban oasis.
I bought rain boots at Marshalls a few years ago – thought I’d never wear them–wrong. So glad to have them but I really need to upgrade to some Kate Middleton-style Wellies
Never did figure out how those boots protected you from rats!! We should be on the road in a hour or so. Looking forward to some fun times. Love you
You are officially the luckiest girl ever- those home owners are so stinking sweet to leave all those small things in the home for you— and the house is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Congrats on the last day of work and the new home!
That pantry is amazing!! Good luck moving tomorrow, I hope the weather cooperates!!
