We woke up to a chilly, rainy morning today in Colorado!
In case you missed it, we have 5 McMillins camped out in our new house this week. That sweet thing with the pink umbrella is my baby sister, AJ!! She’s actually 8, but she’s mini! Quite the house full!
Since today was originally scheduled as moving day, Kevin James wa off! That means we slept in a little bit, and then cooked up a big breakfast for the fam. My parents are members at Anytime Fitness so they wanted to check out the one in our neighborhood. Kevin and I printed off some free 14-day passes so we can tag along. I didn’t take any pictures there (yet), but I got a solid 5.5 miles of cardio in between treadmill & stepmill. Yay! How I missed the stepmills.
So I have to confess to messing up a little bit this weekend with the Just Jot It July challenge, but I am back in full swing. Even though we currently have FOUR flavors of ice cream in the freezer including Butterfingers and Chocolate Moose Tracks. My dad is skinny and is an amazing endurance athlete so he has to eat like an athlete!! My family had some leftover pizza and pot pie for lunch while I stuck with a salad. Tabbouleh, cherries, balsamic, and a few almonds. Kevin and I don’t particularly like that brand of tabbouleh, but we had half a bag in our pantry so we used it up!
Looks like Boyd has a new frenemy. AJ feeds him, but is also always tugging him around the house. He’s not a fan.
A bit later, the sun came out and we decided to leave Mom & Dad at home and bike to the park with the kids!
This is the kind of thing that happens when Kevin and me are the adult supervision. My 17-year-old brother pranked AJ by putting her Barbie bike in the flooded wood chips in the park.
Somehow this happened too…
Gross!! I should have sprayed everyone with the garden hose before I let them back in my shiny new house!
Kevin has been a regular super hero taking things around here, like pulling a random a nail out of the pantry so I don’t have to get a tetanus shot. He’s also the man at dishwasher loading. You should have seen him politely swoop in and take over for my mom because he doesn’t trust her dishwasher loading!
We finished off the evening with a round of Wits & Wagers. Question #7 was the game winning question: In years, what is the average life span of a hippopotamus in captivity? Any guesses?
I ended up winning the game on the last question with my guess of 40 – the correct answer was 41. For my prize, I wanted some popcorn so we brought out the air popper for some snacking. It’s amazing how much popcorn that little group can eat! Kevin has to go back to work tomorrow , but it’ll be my first day not working. My family is here so it won’t seem real yet this week. Entertaining them is a full-time job.
What’s your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? Probably bake! Our new front porch swing is really fun to sit on when it’s raining so I’m sure we’ll be taking advantage of that. So far that and our refrigerator with an ice maker are my siblings’ favorite part of this trip!
