Whew! It feels good to be back in bed for at 2:41 PM today!! The whole family was up bright & early to head over to Boulder for some hiking. It’s kind of fun, now that we live on the Northwest side of Denver, Boulder is a really quick trip!!
I know I live in Colorado, but remember, I’m new. I’m not exactly a nature lover. Remember the first time I saw the coyote warning sign? Definitely not a fan of even bigger animals being around — or as this sign calls them “beautiful creatures.” Kevin did spot a “little snake” once during the hike. I looked the other way and told AJ to walk faster. Yuck!!!
I know we live in the hiking state, but we haven’t made it out too much. I actually got the idea to hike in Boulder from all the recaps from the ladies who attended the Blend retreat! We really enjoyed the trails and want to go back sometime without any slow pokes (okay, maybe just 8-year-olds, and I mean that in a loving way). We saw a lot of people running so that was pretty inspiring. Kevin was trying to sell me on trail running by saying,”there’s no stop lights!!” To which I retorted,”I’d rather have stop lights than wildlife.” However, I did like seeing all the dogs out running with their owners!!
I told Hannah,”Someday you’ll like your brother so let me take your picture with him.” It took a solid 3 minutes, but I definitely got a picture of them both smiling! I’m so proud!!
We hiked about 3.66 miles in about 90 minutes. It didn’t feel like we were going that slow with all the hills and rocks, but I was proud of AJ and her little legs!
Last night…
It cooled off in the evening so we pulled out our new yard game, Rollors! I think it’s kind of a simpler version of Bocce ball. I don’t know how to play that game so maybe I’m way off, but it’s a really easy yard game and we had a blast!!
I took the girls out for their first self-serve fro yo experience. Love this look I caught on my serious sister’s face. She hates it!!!! Haha. I loved this shop, and it’s only about a mile from our house. It’s extra fun because they have a whole stack of kids’ games and hula hoops!! Of course, without responsible Kevin along, I totally forgot about bringing a bike lock. We sat by the window to keep an eye on things. We’re from Wabasha. We’re not used to having to do that!! Lol.
The girls really enjoyed the toppings!! Haha. I loved the strawberry cheesecake flavor!! I’m dying to go back today. Especially since my dad just took my brother while I’m at home looking at these pictures. Lame.
Could my sisters BE any luckier?
Later that evening, an ice cream truck passed our house!
Summer is the best!!!!!!
And then, those lucky ducks, got to take turns trying out our new lawn mower.
Where’s your favorite place to hike? Not sure yet. Anywhere that I’m not afraid of rattlesnakes.
When’s the last time you hiked, saw an ice cream truck, or played a yard game? Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend! xoxo

Easier than Bocce? Does it get easier? Looks fun!
Your siblings are so cute! That’s so fun to have family in town. I’m the youngest, so I know that I always loved going to see my grown-up brothers and sisters!
Aww fun!! You make me miss my sisters!
Can you come be my big sister and take me for hikes followed by fro yo? Looks like such a great day and I’m sure your siblings are having a blast with you!!
I love that you took your sisters for their first fro-yo experience! Fun!!!
Notice HB and JJ are standing in almost exactly the same pose.
sounds like the ideal w/e
Your family is always so cute! I live about 30 minutes from Big Sur, CA and about 2.5 hrs from Yosemite and I’m not a huge hiker either. It’s a controversial topic, lol. Your area looks gorgeous though! WOW. And I think the last time I had ice cream from a truck was in the 90′s.
Your pictures are beautiful! One look at that mountain lion/bear sign & I would’ve been outta there!
ice cream and froyo in the same day? lucky is right. your sisters are really cute! ps MY sister lives in boulder, what a coincidence!
I love hiking. It looks like you had a great time
It’s definitely one of my favorite ways to enjoy nature. Happy Sunday.
PS – I nominated you for the Sunshine Award on my blog. I’m still kind of new to the blogging world and am figuring out how this all works but the award is supposed to go to bloggers that “positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.” Of the blogs I follow, I’d say you fit that criteria. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Aw, how fun to spoil your sisters. We went trail running in Fort Collins today since we are down in the area for a wedding. I kept my eyes peeled for snakes-bull and rattlers-since I have seen them on these trails before. No joke, I run with a rock in my hand to throw at them if I come across one. Usually my favorite places to hike are those trails where they are too rugged and steep and to bike or trail run. We have a place up in the Snowy Range of Wyoming that we enjoy going to often.
What a fun family day! That lawnmower is pretty awesome…I’d be excited to try it out too. Fro-yo!
Katie
aw yum! That froyo looks gooooood.
Your lucky sisters!!! That yogurt place looks so fun! I’m glad there’s not something like that so close to me! I don’t think I could handle it
