Denver Date Night: Billy’s Inn

This week has totally flown by. I know I’m unemployed right now, but I like to think of myself as self-employed – without any student yet. I’ve been keeping extra busy creating the studio website  (that was like a full 8 hour day and then some) and working out some policies, things like tuition rates, etc. Creative things take time! I haven’t even had the time I’d like to play my new piano or do extra workouts!

Kevin, on the other hand, has been swamped at the office and is often one for 12+ hours. I definitely made the right decision about quitting my job!! Needless to say, we were so ready for Date Night.

Billy’s Inn is just right up the hill from us so we rode our bikes!! I have a feeling we’re going to find a few local spots we love and stop being so adventurous. Especially since Billy’s Inn has Thursday night Nachos for $6!!!

I proposed to Kevin that Thursday night become “Nachos Night” and we designate another night as Date Night. Especially when I saw what they looked like:

So delicious. I was starting to get a little cranky because I was hot, and Kevin chose to sit out on the patio, but these nachos really turned that frown upside down!! Next time I have to remember to ask for no yucky black olives. They disguise themselves as black beans. But otherwise, the nachos were amazing!!! I shouldn’t have even ordered anything else.

But I did.

It was a great match with my nachos! But I definitely didn’t need that much food. I am still so full!!! I didn’t eat it all, but I ate more than I should have. In addition to the nachos, Kevin also ordered a burger so he was stuffed to. I can’t wait to go back and try the tacos. I was totally eyeballing everyone else’s orders, and they looked amazing!!

The service was fabulous too!!! So excited to have this place nearby.

As we were biking home, we met our neighbors two doors down!! Can you believe I said to Kevin,”Let’s go meet them?” Me!! And Kevin was the hesitant one!! They had two kids with them so that was an icebreaker, right? Turns out my new neighbor is an assistant principal with Denver Public Schools, and he’s already offering to help me find a job. Guess what else? They have a possible piano student.

Afterwards, we headed to Super Target for a few groceries. I hardly bought anything since I was shopping on such a full stomach. But of course this was a must:

Definitely need some of that in my life! Probably Kevin is going to end up being the only one eating it, but I couldn’t resist!!

Kevin also picked up a tv antenna, hoping we’d be able to get the Olympic channel. No such luck! :( For one brief moment, I was ecstatic because I thought we might get the Jeopardy! channel. I was envisioning watching it while I wait for Kevin to get home from work. Nope!! I’m worried about the Olympics now! I need to see them. I might hae to join a gym just for that. I’ll ask what channels they have before I join!!

Somebody hasn’t learned his lesson!!  Boyd J was creeping all over the peach muffins I baked this afternoon. But I had my eye on him!!!

Do you have cable/antenna/dish? Whatever else there is? We’ve never had anything – with the exception of the first temporary apartment we lived in. In the winter, we used to watch New Girl online, but I feel like we haven’t seen anything in a super long time. I’m not bragging. We all know the internet is my time waster of choice.

Planning anything Olympic-themed? I’ve been slacking. July totally flew by with the move and my family being here!!

Um, yum! We always have the same problem when we go for Mexican – we order a huge appetiser and then walk out completely stuffed after eating our mains. My husband and I are the types of people who have to clean their plates haha ;)

OMG! Look at that irresistible face? How did you manage to not give him one? I’m SOO glad you mustered up the courage to go and talk to your neighbor! And look at that..it was meant to be!!! So exciting! We have cable, but I’m seriously considering getting rid of it. We hardly watch tv these days. I can def use some extra $.

OMG that picture of Boyd is HILARIOUS! He looks guilty!! Way to go on the networking. I love your piano website!! It’s awesome!! And, we do nachos every Friday or Saturday night (we’ve been doing it since we moved in together 6 years ago) with margaritas. :) Nacho Night is a good idea! :)

  4. what a great way to get excited for the olympics. those nachos look bomb!

  5. Those nachos look so good! Makes me so sad we don’t have good Mexican food in Orlando!

  6. The look on Boyd’s face in the last picture says it all! Your dinner in Denver looks great. Hey–would you happen to have any recommendation on great, healthy food in Boulder (we head there tomorrow)? We like The Med for happy hour and tapas–so I’m sure we’ll do that one night. We usually go to Whole Foods for lunch. And definitely swing by Breadworks for a cookie. :) Anything else? Thanks!

  7. I love Boyd! That picture of him is so cute! That restaurant looks amazing!

  8. Your salad looks delicious! Is there an actual Olympic channel? We’ll be away anyway and Our TV in NM doesn’t have cable yet…in fact we can only get 2 channels, so I shouldn’t even think about it!

  9. those are some intense nachos! looks like you have the right kind of neighbor!
