So I met some blogger friends for the first time ever today. I texted Kristy on the way to Fit on the Rocks and told her I felt like I did when I was going to meet Kevin for the first time. I said that, right? Maybe I just thought it. Lol. Anyways, it was a little trickier finding people at Red Rocks than I thought it would be. It was packed!
Biggest, fattest lie ever!
A quick shot of some Colorado bloggers before the boot camp began. A gorgeous rainbow, right? Oops.. I didn’t know them all. There were definitely some of you I was thinking — I should know her? Does she have a blog? Lol. But it was too hot and too loud to really determine all that. Thanks to Lauren for the texting and getting me out there or I’m sure I would’ve never made it!! I’m a little inspired to make it out to some more blogger stuff. Pot luck anyone?
And I really need a running/walking/whatever buddy in my new neighborhood (Highlands/Sunnyside). We can be like the Skinny Runner & Run Eat Repeat of Denver… if you know what I mean. Lol. I read too many blogs.
So the boot camp was fun. Okay, not really that fun. It was so incredibly hot. I was worrying that I was getting sun burnt. And then I got a splinter. And I’m a huge pansy about splinters. The ground and the wood were too hot to touch to do pushups! It was crazy! Okay, I know that’s making me sound like a hug baby, but I was just thinking I would be getting a much better workout if it were not for the conditions. I’m a big believer that it’s not worth toughing it out for no reason. I like to push myself, but I could have done 10 burpees at home in the time I did 3 out in the elements. Haha.
Borrowed this one from Lauren because I wasn’t smart enough to take a picture when people were actually working out. The people with towels and gloves were geniuses!!! I will say I loved that they had people going around the whole time spritzing everyone with water! That was very refreshing!!!!
By the way, I have some very important info for you. This lovely outfit I’m sporting is all Target Champion wear. I especially love the tank top. They had both pink and neon green, but none in any good sizes.
I actually had to buy an xs even to get this color that included purple (yuck). A small would be more forgiving, but it’s obviously not a true xs so it works. You can bet I’ll be scouring other Targets for the other colors. I told Kevin,”Just think of how much this would cost at Lululemon!!!!” And that’s why I get to buy it in every color. Haha. And you should too!!! Think. If you like blue, you could probably have one for every day of the week!!
@Hannah and AJ — Look you can still see your sidewalk chalk!! And let’s be real, I’m sure the real highlight of the photo is Boyd in the background.
Tonight’s dinner:
Totally random stir fry. I just kept thinking of ideas as I went along. Here’s what went down:
- I decided to start with a little brown rice since I’ve been quinoa happy lately. I cooked it with half water/half light coconut milk for some flavor.
- I steamed some broccoli in the microwave.
- And I sautéed some broccoli slaw (I’ll be honest, I just poured some of the juice from the rice kettle into the wok pan so I wouldn’t have to use any oil – lol). I got the idea to cook up broccoli slaw from Kelly’s taco recipe, and it was awesome. I only used half a bag because I was hoarding it for a salad for another day. Haha.
- I added chickpeas for protein and some random cut up veggies that were leftover in the fridge.
- Topped with some PB2 (I made it little extra watery so it’d be like a sauce), crushed red pepper, and unsweetened coconut.
Best part was when Kevin asked me,”What are these noodle things?” I think he thought I put in like some of those crunchy stir fry noodle things. Nope. It was the broccoli slaw!! Hahaha. I laughed so hard. I wasn’t even trying to hide the veggies. In fact, he saw them in the pan. But it was really good in stir fry. Like, I want to make it again every day next week for my lunches!! Lol.
Poor Kevin James. He’s in his last MBA class ever, but it’s a tough one. He’s writing a huge paper today and asked me to make him a treat. I was going to be extra super nice and make him real no-bake cookies. But oops! No butter!!! So of course, I Googled “no bake cookies without butter” and came up with this recipe from Eating Bird Food that uses a banana instead! Perfect!! I bought bananas for just such a reason. I hate bananas, but I like using them as a sweetener.
They actually turned out really well. Kevin gave them an 8 out of 10. 10, being the real no-bakes!! Lol. You could definitely taste the banana flavor which is fine, just I was hoping it would taste a little more peanut buttery! That’s not stopping us from downing them. No-bake cookies are almost like cookie dough to me so I like them…. Oh boy.
Let’s end with the guaranteed crowd pleaser:
I think that might be the cutest one ever, right??? I think he managed this because I taught him to balance food on his nose. But my glasses are pretty strong! That must have felt weird, Boyd!!! I know you think he’s cute, but he’s on my bad side again for stealing a sock. We got it before he swallowed it whole… this time. Oh Booooooyd!!!
Have you ever met a blogger or someone you only knew from the internet? Well, Kevin James was the first. There probably have been some others, I’m not entirely sure.
I’ve actually never been to a boot camp before either — have you? That’s hard to believe, right? I’ve never been to a yoga class either. And now I hate going to classes at gyms because I haven’t gotten around to getting contacts so it’s really hard for me to see what’s going on.

Ah that is the neatest thing ever!! You look so cute, and Boyd in those glasses? Swoon!
I’m glad that I got to meet you even though it was briefly before we all started to die in the heat! I’m too slow to be your running buddy, but I’m down for a potluck any day!
Also…we would make a rocking group of awesome people that could compete with the SR/ERR posse! Just sayin’
I’m not a boot camp person to begin with an I was over the Fitness on the Rocks shortly after it started…it was hot. Sure, thats a wimpy excuse, but if it burns my hands to do a move then I’m not doing it. I didn’t do any burpees, I was rebelling!
As for Target clothes…I fit anything from an XS to an XL, which makes no sense. I have an XS zip up jacket and an XL tank top, which seems the opposite as it should be. And I may rock all C9 on a regular basis, I’m cheap like that!
Yay!! I’m SO GLAD we finally got to meet!! I’ll be back in Colorado soon (hopefully) and we will definitely have to get together for dinner or something next time (when we don’t have to SCREAM to talk to each other!). The bootcamp was awesome- you should definitely go to the free ones on Saturday morning. AND- you need to get together with those Colorado bloggers now that you’ve “broken the ice!” There are some FANTASTIC ladies in that group (and some of the best friends a girl can have!). I understand being nervous- it’s a little scary meeting a group of very strong, confident women. I was that way too at first! xoxo
Bootcamp was SO HARD. I agree about the concrete and my hands being on fire – I would have liked to have had a heads up about bringing a towel or gloves or something!
I’m so glad you came out! Even if you don’t remember all of us
There were quite a lot of us and it was so loud! You should definitely come to more blogger/friend things with us!
bootcamp .. so hardcore! Boyd is so cute!
Yay for the broccoli slaw victory! It looked really yummy
And of course you already know this – but you rainbow ladies sure did look fabulous at bootcamp!!!
Good for you to go to the meet-up! I ran with Theodora in NYC (www.losingweightinthecity.com) but haven’t been able to connect with any local bloggers yet.
what an awesome thing to do outside! Looks like a blast. My roommate loves those cookies.
Love that picture of Boyd… so studious!
I’ve gone to 2 blogger meet-ups so far! I was definitely a little nervous both times, but felt perfectly comfortable after the first minute of being with everyone!
That bootcamp sounds fun. I love blogger meet ups!
I love the bright workout clothes that are out now!!! I am in love with Target’s workout clothes too! So much less expensive than Lululemon
I am a total private workout’er but that bootcamp is something I could totally do (maybe not at 35 weeks prego though….) and it looks like fun!
…..That picture of Boyd— cutest.thing.ever!
I’ve never been to a bootcamp before, but my gym does offer the class. It’s just that the timing doesn’t work for when I workout. And maybe I’m a bit of a baby.
That bootcamp sounds lke FUN! I once met another blogger who was visiting Mumbai from the US! I was nervous beforehand but as soon as we met, it was like we’d known each other forever! The conversation just fell into place and at some points, we’d say something and be like “oh wait you already know this”…haha perks of blogger friends
