Two Fun Things Friday: The Sound of Boyd’s Voice + Old Journal Entry

Yesterday I gave you some thoughts on my feelings about mornings.

Today Boyd Jose decided to take it to a whole new level. I decided to turn video on when I was calling him out of bed and here’s what happened – aren’t you excited to hear the sound of his voice? That’s not my normal voice, I promise. Everyone talks to their dogs that way, right?

<p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/46884012″>Hide & Go Seek Boykin</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/user741441″>Corrie McMillin</a> on <a href=”http://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a&gt;.</p>

Haha. So spoiled. And yes, our bed is on the floor. We’re working on it…

Second, I was actually productive and unpacked some things in the closet today. We have a lot of extra space in this house so it’s been really easy to hide things that are still boxed up! We have some things that haven’t been opened since we lived in Minnesota. Always a surprise or two in there!! Like my 1993 journal:

I opened to a random page, and this is what I found. After reading it, I felt like it was perfect timing. Now I can really identify with Gabby Douglas and all the Olympians and what they are going through. Even if I didn’t know what a leotard is called. I did summer rec. gymnastics for about two years. The vault was my favorite, but I could barely get up on the bars. Maybe that’s why I still can’t do a pull up? It started young!!

Kevin is coming home early! What a slacker. I was totally going to make cookies today, but no promises with this unexpected diversion!

Did you/do you keep a journal? My blog is my new journal, right? It seems like I was a fan between ages 8-10. Before I was introduced to the wonderful world of aol im!

  1. I spent endless hours of my childhood/adolescence writing insane things in journals. What a fun find!

  2. Heidi Nicole says:

Silly dog! And we totally use that high pitched childish voice with our cat – I’m sure he loves it!

We had to write a journal in 4th-6th grade and I still have mine. Very interesting to say the least!

  3. Cute! I used to keep a diary…my brother always read it. I would get so mad!!

  4. Min says:

Haha! Hello, Boyd! It’s nice to hear your (grumpy) voice ;) .
I grew up in Korea, and it was required that we write a journal. There was a specific notebook we had to buy too! The top portion was left blank so you can draw something, and the bottom portion was lined so that you can write. We had to give it to our parents to read and to our teachers to be graded. I wish I had kept mine. I don’t know what happened to it :( . Hope you and the hubby enjoy a lovely evening together! Cookies sound perfect right now!!

  5. Aw- that is super cute!! ….If I run across something I’ve written in the past, I usually just end up shaking my head- gosh, the drama of being a kid ;) Yours seems so much more level headed than my journals were.

  6. I would die if I read my old journals. I used to cut out cool stuff from magazines and modge podge them in a collage of sorts on the cover. And that’s the exact moment my craftiness ended!

  7. I love that journal entry!! I used to keep a diary as a kid. I remember in 2nd grade, I had all of these diary entries about how this boy named Tyler was my boyfriend. He wasn’t, of course. I just thought he was really cute. Therefore, he was my boyfriend. Completely logical, right? ;)

  8. Lisa says:

Such a minnesotan….”Jody borrowed me…”!!!!!! Such bad grammar! Poor Kelly, dentist trips way back when. And Boyd was so funny!!!!!

  9. That is so awesome, what a cutie as well.

  10. How awesome coming across your 1993 journal. I love that youthful, kid handwriting :)
