Last night Kevin shocked me by jumping in during Round 2 of my WOD. He’d already biked 15 miles so he wasn’t in the mood for any more straight cardio. It had been a while since he’d touch a kettlebell.
By the way, I had a really hard time saying cowbell the other day. I kept replacing it with kettlebell. Such a nerd!
We probably wouldn’t have even gone, but I have plans for every day this week!! What’s up with that???
(kb swings, kb thrusters, kb suitcase burpees)
I did round 1 with 25lbs — those were so heavy for me on the thrusters!!! Round 2, I regressed to 20lbs. I made it through the first round of kb swings on round 3, and that was it! I thought I’d get farther, but I was working hard!!
This morning:
I didn’t actually make it to the gym since I had to be around for the piano tuner. But I did squeeze in a decent 5 mile run with Pippa Cordelia.
I love sleeping Pippa. Paws still crossed. Little limbs all jammed together. But if I leave the room… she has to get up and move too!!!
Today I proved to Boyd that I still love him by giving the SunButter jar to him instead of Pippa. He thoroughly enjoyed it. For hours.
Tonight was a big night! My first piano lesson. I didn’t sneak a picture of my student. He’s lucky.
Thank goodness Kevin was home to keep the puppies under control. They’re extremely exuberant whenever we have company (the poor piano tuner!!).
So my new student was 22!! And a guy!! Probably my last pick of who I’d choose for a student on paper. I’m just used to elementary-aged students. And if it’s a complete stranger, sorry, but I’d pick a girl. But it was great. I loved it!! I’m all about advertising for adult students now. It was so fun to have someone who could pick up things super quickly and who is actually motivated to learn! He said he just wanted to have a hobby besides golf. I think that’s really cool. I think I’m going to focus on the piano business for a while because I loved it!!!!

Of course, Kevin was a doll and made my business a little spreadsheet tonight… a spreadsheet that clearly shows me in the red. Oh well. Spreadsheets are overrated!
What hobby would you like to pick up? Or instrument? Well, mostly every instrument. Especially clarinet and cello. Also double unders. Lol.
Do you keep any spreadsheets? I wonder how many Kevin has going at any given time. I don’t think I want to know.

P.S. Kevin is officially 100% done with his MBA!! He got his finally grades today. Hooray!!!!!!

I’d love to go to piano classes again. I took them as a kid and tried briefly last year before something came up. It is so much fun!! I bet you’re a really great teacher. A 22 year old will need
different teaching methods but you’re right, it’ll be rewarding because he will learn quickly. Beautiful piano by the way!! I hope I have one in my house someday.

aw, awesome that you got your first student! i started coaching runners a couple years ago…and 90% of my trainees are men 40+ years old! so random, but enjoyable still.

Yea for you! Yea for Kevin! If I lived near you, I’d totally come to you for piano lessons. I am almost 37 and have wished for years that I knew how to play! I have a bunch of cousins who are all great at piano and other instruments but they don’t live near me.
