Bootcamping with Fitmixer

Pippa Cordelia is really starting to fit in around here:

We need a bigger bed, right? I’m going to need a blog sponsor for that. :)

Let’s talk about my FITMIXER BOOT CAMP!!

Boot camps are about the ONLY kind of camping I like.

I’m obviously super committed because this one started on my birthday!!! This is a true story. Kevin sat next to me last night and ate my birthday cake. I had a little bit on Sunday before boot camp officially started, but he’s had all of the rest!! I did put some in the freezer for a rainy day.

Why would I do a boot camp? Well, I saw a lot of other bloggers doing it, and it looked like fun.

Am I trying to lose weight? Oh, whatever. I’m actually pretty happy with the way I look. Especially my burpee muscles. And my freckles. That said, yeah, my BMI is on the very tippy-top of “healthy weight.” And dropping a few would seriously help my long distance running and hopefully help with the pushups and pullups! My true priorities. Lol. Blah, blah, blah. Bottom line: I’m cute, I’m married, and I won’t be obsessing. I don’t think Kevin is worried about me “letting myself go.” Haha.

Best part? Encouragement to eat food other than fried eggs & sweet potato fries. Although you will still see those for sure! Oh, and bonding with my sister-in-law, Lisa, who I talked into doing the boot camp with me. We text about it constantly. Lol.

Pippa is already bored with this topic. So happy I finally caught her stretching!!!! She’s a rapid stretcher, and I hadn’t been able to catch it on camera.

I had great intentions of photographing everything I ate today. Spoiler: I forgot. But I did have this yogurt first thing in the morning. My 1600 calorie meal plan calls for dairy at breakfast. Yeah, I’m not wild about the sugar content in flavored yogurt either. I prefer Fage, for sure, but it’s closing in on $2/a piece sometimes!! I can only fight so many battles at once.

I headed out the door ASAP with Pippa Cordelia to get a few miles in. Even post-run, she was far too hyper to be pictured. We ran a 26:27 5k. We’ve been trying to take it easy still due to Pippa’s scrawniness as well as I’m trying not to overexercise during boot camp.

Fitmixer aminos in between running and today’s boot camp workout. I love having the workouts planned for me, but I had a hard time staying with the slow pace of today’s training. I like to move it!!!!! Tomorrow’s looks a little more my speed.

The dogs do not cooperate with at-home exercise. I had to replay one of the example videos for the workout and turned around to find this! Silly Pippa!!

Boo! We don’t have any English muffins. So toast with jam & fried eggs it is!

For lunch, I had some Southwest Chopped Salad from Taylor Farms (love those things!!!) + a bit of leftover grilled chicken.

And there’s always room on the menu plan for:

But you knew that, didn’t you!?

My favorite fitmixer product is definitely the fitmixer slim! Great little 90 calorie afternoon snack!

And a Strawberry Zevia that I bought under the “it’s my birthday weekend” excuse.

Here’s what the dogs destroyed today while I was teaching piano:

Poor Kevin’s ottoman!! Awwa! Yes, we are FOR SURE crate shopping right now. They’re a terrible team. Pippa destroys. Boyd eats. He’s not going to feel good tomorrow after eating foam. But the idea never occurs to him to rip things apart when he’s alone. If I separated them, I know they’d just have a barking contest. Dogs!!!

For dinner I made Skinny Taste’s Stuffed Red Pepper Soup. That probably wasn’t the best fit for my meal plan, but I’ll have a better idea of how that works while I’m planning meals for next week. And it was a perfect meal for an afternoon where I was busy teaching piano.

I had a surprise student tonight! He had his day mixed up and showed up at our door unexpected right before dinner. Of course, the dogs went bananas! Kevin had just finished biking home from work, and it was a regular circus!! I had to pick up and carry both dogs out of the room. That’s how I like to make fist impressions!! My student didn’t care – especially since I went ahead and taught him tonight anyways. He’s a dog owner. Dog owners understand. :)

I tried to snack on this tonight, but I HATED it. I usually like cottage cheese, but this was like super sour. I just couldn’t do it. I put it in the fridge to use for cooking. Do you think it was the brand? The package led me to believe that it was going to be super good. Haha.

Two things that ARE super good:

Salsa Ranch yogurt dressing is my fave!!!! I’ve been buying the regular yogurt ranch flavor for a while now, but this one might be even better! It’s so good with carrots and salad. Chip’ins have been my favorite evening snack!!! So wonderful. And a serving size is 18! That’s nice. I hate it when the serving size for chips is like 8 or 9. That’s the serving I would generally eat out of the bag before I even put chips in the bowl!!

Not pictured: carrots & blackberries. I forgot!!

What are some of your favorite new food products? I always see the best new ideas on blogs!!

What do you mix in with cottage cheese? I don’t like fruit or yogurt with it. I guess I like everything savory. I’ve seen senior citizens put salt & pepper in it, and I’m wondering if I’d like that. Sounds about right.

What size is your bed? Just thought I’d ask a personal question. Queen! Before I was married, I always had a nice college dorm twin bed. With crumbs in it.

  1. yeah you need a new bed. if I had money, I would sponsor you. ;) pippa is SO long. haha as for boot camp, I always wanted to do it but no one to do it with. I def. need to lose weight. can’t wait to hear how it goes! :)

  2. Patty says:

ALWAYS room for sweet potato magic!! Love your work out energy! So inspiring girlie!!

  3. Lauren says:

I remember being SO PUMPED about fitmixer bootcamp. The workouts really ARE great and I will probably repeat many of them over and over again. The diet plan just wasn’t for me- not something I could sustain. They had me at 1300 calories a day- which is crazy for someone who teaches 2+ hours of group exercise a day….I was hungry and witchy all the time!

  4. birdbeth says:

Haha! Senior citizens eat their cottage cheese with salt and pepper?! I’ve done that my whole life!! :) favorite way to eat it. And maybe a slice of ripe tomato too! Pippa’s claws look like hands when she stretches!!

  5. Oh, yum- those chipins look so good, I need to try them! Enjoy the boot camp- I was doing Tina’s boot camp, we have about one week left. I need that accountability to get in strength workouts…otherwise, all I’d want to do is run. :)

  6. Darn! I really wanted to hop on the FitMixer Boot Camp wagon this time around. I’m so jealous of everyone and their fruit punch aminos! If I were you, I’d use that cottage cheese to make some of Janetha’s Pumpkin Mac & Cheese.
I’m always mixing greek yogurt or sour cream with salsa so that dressing sounds amazing. Especially WITH those Chip’ins!!

This made me laugh out loud: Bottom line: I’m cute, I’m married, and I won’t be obsessing.

    LOL

Our bed is a king size. We were on a full for years and I feel so spoiled. I love it!

  8. Brittany says:

Awesome 5K time, those chips look amazing, and you are a babe even after a run!

  9. Those puppies!
My b-f puts Lawry’s Seasoning Salt on cottage cheese – I just prefer plain.

  10. You hit a ton of my favorite foods, Zevia, cottage cheese, I also love the combo of vanilla cherry. So good. I am glad you are all about this bootcamp, you will do great!

  11. those Chip ins sound and look good to me!!

  12. Bootcamp workouts are so much fun!!
And yes, I agree you look fab!! I am seriously jealous of your burpee muscles. :)

  13. Tonia Kreisel says:

Joey and I love just putting black pepper on our cottage cheese! It’s salty enough already so no salt here, but pepper all the way. Joey puts considerably more on than me. Sometimes it is even almost black, but hey he eats it. Mine uses consideralby less, but it is way yummy!

I would be interested to hear your recap of fit mixer. Have you tried Kong’s with your dogs when they are in the room? They are really really tough rubber “beehive” shaped toys that you stuff with treats and peanut butter. It keeps them busy for hours. We also buy bones for them too if we are going to be gone for long hours. But, yes crate training does work. You may listen to them whine and bark for a while until they get used to it.
On another note, use the cottage cheese as a ricotta cheese substitute in stuffed shells, zucchini lasagna, or something like that.

    • Corrie Anne says:

We do have one kong! Boyd loves it, but Pippa is too girly to get her paws dirty trying to get the food out!! But yes, my dogs do need more toys!!!! I love using cottage cheese as a ricotta sub! It seems cheaper although that theory has not been extensively researched.

  15. Haha! I love your posts so much. Especially this: “Blah, blah, blah. Bottom line: I’m cute, I’m married, and I won’t be obsessing”

Honestly, I love just about anything mixed with cottage cheese. Lately, I’ve been doing a sorta cole slaw – cottage cheese, shredded veggies, and pepper. Yum!

  16. cleanfoodcreativefitness says:

I’m so excited to hear your thoughts on boot camp! I seriously debated signing up for it so I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

  17. Everyone makes Sweet potato fries look so delicious. I really need to get on making them!

  18. Kathy says:

King size bed…don’t know how we ever survived without it…

Cottage cheese is best with scrambled eggs or salt and pepper the seniors are correct. ;-)

But, OH those NAUGHTY and VERY GUILTY looking DOGGIES!! ha! I think you should try tying them up some where by you during piano lessons…they just don’t want to be left out. (Our mini dachshund that foamed and freaked when we left him in his kennel at night and during day errands was a mess….tearing and eating his bed, toys, and any thing we gave him as comfort to have with him) We got him the “thunder shirt”, starting leaving the radio on during day time errands, and took off the door to his kennel so he could go in and out as he pleased…..we have a MUCH happier and NON Destructive pup now. Whew! So, glad it worked! (B/c we were going a bit crazy!)

    • Corrie Anne says:

I wonder if we should get her a thundershirt. It’s just weird because she’s chill and 100% fine… until she gets left alone in a room while I’m teaching piano!! Her other side must really come out!! Haha.

  19. Yes, you should know that you DO look fantastic! :) I’m glad you realize that!

My favorite afternoon snack is an apple, with almonds and/or pistachios. Portable and tastes good. I’ve never liked cottage cheese–I tried and tried and every time I realized I was choking it down. Not worth it. :)

    • Corrie Anne says:

Thank you!!! That’s so kind of you. That snack actually sounds really good to me too!!! There’s no point in choking foods down. I sometimes catach myself doing that with salads, but I’ve been able to find some that I like!

  20. Lisa says:

I want your dressing and chip’ins! Will have to look for those. Dannon oikos (yes with the sugar) is my favorite Greek yogurt. Black cherry. It’s like my dessert for the day! I’ve come to hate (dare I say it?) the Chobani.
I’m impressed with the fitmixer boot camp, and that’s coming from someone who used to care less about exercise. I like their attitude, approach, and the workouts are the perfect challenge for me, so far, without making me want to quit! I’m really really hoping to see some improvements that will last in my life, between meal choices, body shape, and exercise habits. Maybe someday I’ll be competition for you, Corrieanne! lol

    • Corrie Anne says:

BRING IT ON!!!!! I should have said that. I LOVE THEIR ATTITUDES!!!!!!!! Aren’t you glad I suggested this for you?? You should be eternally grateful. I’m like your fitness matchmaker. FAGE IS THE BEST!!!

      • Lisa says:

Kelly might be eternally grateful soon! Lol! Hot mamacita! I haven’t found Fage here yet. The only other high protein I love besides the Dannon Greek is salmon! Mmmmmm! TI had amazing salmon on their ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET! (Yes, I ate TWO pieces…but that was pre baby número tres!). Next visit we should go there so Kevin and I can eat salmon and you and Kelly can eat chicken!
