The Rainy Day

Yes. “The.”

This is the first time I can remember a truly cold all-day rainy day since I moved to Denver. Brrrrr!!

This hoody hairstyle is great for standing outside watching over your conniving canines. One of whom is too chicken to get their dainty feet wet while the other is traipsing around in the mud.

And that’s about how far Miss Priss wanted to go. What can I say? She got it from her mama. Who got it from living in the Dominican Republic where they believe getting hit by a raindrop will cause immediate illness. Or will at least mess up your beautiful, straight hair.

The dogs and their muddy paws always have to IMMEDIATELY rush out of confinement after I teach a piano lesson to survey the premises.  They’re very diligent. If they’re lucky, they might catch a glimpse of a student getting into a car.

Another important part of their job is inspecting all incoming mail. Yeah, I’m an Amazon addict.

Okay, so it was 90% piano books for my students!! I’ve been ordering nearly every day after I’m contacted by new parents/students! I would have run out of the adult books, but one student had to reschedule. They’re so spoiled that I order their books for them with Amazon Prime! They’re much cheaper. But I get the perk of daily deliveries! But I did get myself a little something. I was still feeling the birthday sense of entitlement!

Copland Ballet Music + the Atkins Baking Mix I keep seeing on all the blogs. Waffles & pancakes, here I come!!! When the sun finally came out – sort of – I HAD to get Pippa out of the house. I had another piano student coming and unexercised, cooped up dogs are obnoxious!!

We puddle jumped around the neighborhood for a little over 2 miles.

Sadly the occasion called for a jacket with a hood and thumbholes! I need some bright winter workout wear this year. The black just makes it more depressing!! And I’ll be outside way more this year with Pippa Cordelia in tow!!! In the cauldron for dinner tonight:

Kath’s Nutty Vanilla & Sweet Potato Soup – minus the nuts. I don’t have any. I had something else planned for tonight, but when I saw the weather — soup was a must!! I’m clocking out early because I have yet to hit the gym to do my fitmixer boot camp workout and after that I want to spend some QT with Kevin discussing vacation plans. And by vacation plans, I mean possibly leaving our zip code for more than one night to somewhere that’s not Minnesota. :) We aim high. Preferably somewhere we can take our little bundles of fur. And not too outdoorsy. Any suggestions? I’m leaning towards somewhere I can run a half-marathon while I’m there. :)

VOD — as I saw Lindsay so wisely call it: Proverbs 3:5

What’s the next vacation or mini vacation you have planned? Somewhere close. For like a long weekend in mid-October. Can’t wait!!!

Does it rain a lot where you live? My feet are so cold!!

You could come to Jellystone with us in October the weekend of the 17-20. That way you could see us AND it’s not MN. WI, but not MN!

  2. haha do you watch Pretty Little Liars? you in that hoodie reminds me of that … and your hair is so so pretty. Wish I had hair like that … and a hoodie that has thumbholes. I can never find those.

  3. Min says:

It rained all day here today! This doesn’t normally happen. I’m hoping the weather cools a lil’ bit after this..we’re still in the triple digits..yup…
I was about to say! Those are a lot of boxes from Amazon! You know Amazon prime started charging for tax here in TX! Argh..not cool!
And I’ve been reminding myself of Proverbs 3:5 quite often as of late! I really need a vacation also…I’ll be going to SF for a wedding next weekend, but that doesn’t really count since I’ll only be there for 2 days. I’ve been wanting to go to North Carolina for some reason..

That is the most adorable “rainy-do” hair ever. You stink! Just kidding. Just my jealousy talking! Love the piano-puppy pics!! Such a lovely place you have!

  5. Brittany says:

Yes, it rains a lot where I live…rain/sprinkle/grey all winter. I am so excited for the cooler weather!

  6. Lauren says:

So exciting that your piano lessons business is getting off the ground!! I can still remember the covers of pretty much all of the books that I used in the five years that I took lessons growing up (wish I had continued!!)

  7. Liz says:

We went to a dog friendly B&B in Salida called Mountain Goat Lodge over the summer. It was wonderful, definitely recommend it.

  8. Chelsea says:

It’s raining in GA too. Boo!!

  9. Love your hair like that! :)
Hoodies with thumbholes?! Weird. (I live in The Bahamas.)
Next vacation… Hmmm… Babe and I may just take a weekend on Paradise Island (just over the bridge) to celebrate when I finally get this job I’m waiting for a call on.
Nope, doesn’t rain a lot here, generally. We just get mad crazy HEAT. Gah!

  10. I am not a rain fan and neither is my dog. He hates water, it’s sort of adorable!

  11. “Or will at least mess up your beautiful, straight hair.”

I was just thinking, after seeing your first photo, how much I love your long curly hair! I guess the grass is always greener.

Maybe go to New Mexico? I don’t think you’re too far from Taos, which was gorgeous!

  12. I love the way it “rains” ehre. in alaska it would get depressing because it would be drizzly for days but here it is almost always blue skies and if it rains its like a storm rolls in it rains and gets it over with, and then its gone!
we unformally have plans to go to FL after thanksgiving to hopefully meet some friends from alaska down there!

  13. Our next planned vacation is our honeymoon is December :) I can’t wait! I can’t believe it’s cold near you! It’s still hot as Hades in Orlando, as usual.

  14. cottercrunch says:

haha, and i thought it was a cold 67 here. That was the low. high of 92F. We’re pathetic. I’m like miss priss.

  15. Eh, it rains every now and then here in PA. It seems like we’ll have a few days straight of rain and then we’ll be good for a while! I hate cold feet!

  16. tyraaaaa says:

We get epic summer storms, but our winters are normally sunny.

All of my suggestions for holidays near you are very outdoorsy, so I won’t make any suggestions :p

  17. DC! DC! DC! ps was the soup good?

  18. Emily says:

I used those piano books when I was a student! I didn’t know they had an adult series…while I took lessons for 9 years (and my mom is a piano teacher) I haven’t touched a piano much since my sophomore year of college. I might have to look for those adult books to get myself practicing again!

  19. Kathy says:

Your wavy hair is super cute with the hoodie….(I don’t mean that in a weird way..;-)

Did I tell you my dachshund has gone pee twice and poop once in the house already ….yep, I am thanking the rain for that mess…he went out this AM and after that said NO THANK YOU…UGH!

    Did

I hate rainy days! It always makes me sleepy! I keep seeing that Atkins mix too! Can’t wait to hear how you like it!

  21. what a great soup idea, the combo sounds delicious.

  22. That’s what I adore about CO . . . it might rain, but it never lasts. It amazes me. It’s sunny, then randomly rains for 20 minutes, and becomes sunny again. Craziness. And how strange that today was so different!
