Red Hot Ranch Slaw & 2×2


Here’s a fun salad idea I came up with the other day!

Red Hot Ranch Slaw (for 1!)

  • 1 cup broccoli slaw
  • 1 cup spinach (chopped)
  • 8 red hot blue chips (crushed)
  • 8 cherub tomatoes (quartered)
  • 2 TBSP Bolthouse Farms yogurt salsa ranch
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Shake it!

MyFitness Pal says 178 calories, 7 protein, 7 fat

Great snack/side!

Earlier…

I KNEW running to the gym would be just as fast as biking!!

My bike tire is a little low on air… I don’t really excel in the skill set required for remedying that. So I ran to the gym! I KNEW I could run there almost as fast as a I bike. I think it takes me at least 12 minutes to bike!! Haha. But that tacked on an additional 3.78 miles to my day! Oh well. I took it pretty easy since I had already run a 5k with Pippa C.

At the gym — today I swapped out my boot camp workout to do a little GPP.

2×2 - via GPP

Complete as many reps as possible in 2 mins of:

squats (backside must touch 15 inch target)
kettlebell swings 25/35
bench dips
biceps curls 15/20
burpees 

REPEAT (once)

My results:

Overheard at the gym: “Does ANYONE like burpees?”

Haha. Yes! Although maybe not at the end of that list. And prior to another 1.68 mile run home!

Blueberry snack!

And almond butter snack for the dogs! I felt bad because the jar was glass so I couldn’t give it to them to play with!

Oh Boyd got a turn too!

I knew you guys would think I was ripping him off! :)

Coconut-Almond Chicken Stew with Cilantro - minus the fish sauce (yuck)! I used unsweetened almond milk instead of chicken broth and a teaspoon of coconut oil to replace the olive oil. I also reduced the almond butter a little bit.

It was the perfect dinner. Until Pippa started puking. I think she’s adjusting to her new dog food. :( Stew isn’t too appetizing after cleaning that up! Okay. I still ate it. And I have to say that it was super fillingI wasn’t hungry for a bedtime snack! That never happens.

The Boykin just wants to go to bed. He’s just like his father. Come 10PM, and he’s scratching at the bedroom door, wanting to hop in bed!

What’s your bedtime? I’m always curious about this. I’ve never been able to sleep much before midnight. No matter what time I have to get up for work! Even when it’s before 6! Night owl. Kevin has been known to start yawning at 8:15! Pippa falls asleep at around 9, but has a second wind if Boyd is traipsing about. Boyd stays awake a little bit later, but gets cranky!

Four more days of summer!

  2. I am definitely in bed between 10-11 most nights. Sometimes a little later on the weekends, but not often. Christopher gets up at 5 and I get up at 5:30 so we both want to get to bed as early as possible most of the time. So funny because in college my normal bedtime was around 2 (obviously much later on some nights), but then I didn’t have to get up until 8-9. I never would’ve thought that I’d be getting up so long BEFORE the crack of dawn, haha! But I don’t mind the early mornings so it’s all good. :)

    Your stew looks and sounds good! I’m no fan of fish sauce either. My bedtime is around 10, sometimes earlier, but lately it’s been more like 10:30 or 10:45.

  5. My bedtime is waay to late. Three days a week I don’t get from school until 10:30 which means I don’t get to bed until after midnight. There just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day sometimes!

    Your garmin is so snazzy :) I go to bed around 9:45 and get up at 5:33 (if I’m working out). If not, I push each back by an hour.

    i usually lay down around 930-10 and then blog, play ont he computer, read, watch tv until 1230ish it seems like. unless i am exhausted!

    ooof. 2×2 was ROUGH yesterday! i did it myself then stayed for the two classes after me and watched. it was a painful workout, but fun! xoxo

  9. I like to be in bed by 9:30 or 10 to get up for my morning workouts. Running to the gym is such a good idea! A great warm up and then the “commute” isn’t wasting time

  10. Ugh, I hate burpees! But I think it’s because I have such little upper body strength.

    I sleep from 11pm to 7am every single day and it takes me about 30 seconds to fall asleep. If I get any less sleep, I’m totally worthless.

  11. I get super tired by 9:00 now- mom’ness is kicking in and all I want is sleep!

    I always do burpees at the very beginning of a workout. I can NOT have them lurking around to wait until the end! Ugh!
    My perfect sleep schedule is going to bed (actually falling asleep) by 11, and waking up at 7. Unfortunately, I still go to bed that late when I need to wake up at 5 am to teach early morning classes. No wonder I’m always tired… it’s hard to go to bed earlier though!

    That is too funny that the puppies want to go to bed by 10! Sophie usually falls asleep around 8 but then is awake off and on until 11! I am in bed at 10 or 11 every night! I need my sleep and stay up for the puppy mostly!

    Burpees…ugh how about Frog Burpees?? I have been doing Stuft Mama’s GNC workout video she posted a couple of days ago…about 6 exercises~ do each for a minute and repeat….I have quite the sweat going on by the time I am done with that! Both hate and love them I guess. ;-)

  18. My bedtime is 8:30 or 9:00 during the school year! I get up at 4 am, so ….. Summers are different though! :)

  20. Life in Mumbai seems to be later than the US in general. I have to be at work by 10.30 so I’m usually in bed by midnight and then up at 8 to hit the gym before work!
