A sweet day with my little family.
Pippa woke up first. Got us all up. And then Kevin whipped up a delicious breakfast before church.
Kevin shot down my suggestion to have fro-yo for lunch so we went with Park Burger – an old fave.
I kept it green… my burger was on greens + jalapeños and guacamole!
It was actually quite warm today so it got a bit toasty in my plaid!
I know I should teach Pippa not to jump on me like that… but I just love it. She can almost paw her way up to my face!
We also got some important business taken care of…
We bought our tickets to see Sleeping Beauty!
I liked the Colorado Ballet Facebook page and found out they were offering a 20% discount on evening performance through October 1! Discount code: BEAUTY — if you’re interested in going. Which you totally should! I know. I’m totally blessed that Kevin is a great sport about things like this, but feel free to use him as an example. Haha. I’d already been prepping him by secretly playing the music here and there.
Speaking of music — here’s an embarrassing 21-second video of me practicing piano with Pippa Cordelia in my lap! Kevin managed to catch it on his iPad. My playing sounds so poundy — it’s a little abrasive! So ignore that, turn the volume down, etc. I’ll play you something I do better (Beethoven! Schubert! Rachmaninov!) someday, but lately I’ve been addicted to practicing the Italian Concerto (Bach). Kevin can even hum it — although the counterpoint gets a bit dicey!
And that’s why I lock the dogs up while I’m teaching piano. They spent the rest of the time tussling behind me!
If only Pippa could turn pages…
Off to shop for a dress for the ballet (online of course — what else is there?!)! Any suggestions? The more frou-frou the merrier!!
I like this one from Madewell, but probably not enough ruffles. Or bows. Or pink! I feel that my piano studio profits may be going back to red again! Haha.
Where’s your favorite place to shop for dresses? I love J.Crew & Banana Republic for work dresses. I also like to look at Ruche. Sometimes ModCloth. I also like ASOS which is where I’ve got the bow dress and the ice cream cone dress.
What’s your favorite style of dress? I love ruffles & bows (obviously), knee-length, definitely sleeveless. Mostly because my burpee muscles don’t cooperate well with sleeves (that dress above is probably out – lol). NO BLACK. Unless I’m being the teacher. Then… ALL BLACK!
What should Kevin wear? A bow tie, right? Blazer with elbow patches! I know we don’t HAVE to dress up, but it’s fun! Don’t be boring. I’m still depressed for you guys that you nixed loafers with tassels!

Ooo the ballet!!! You definitely need to get a dress with a little bling! And I’m a big fan of puppy hugs / jumps myself
Awww, your dog is too cute!
I’m a tank shift dress kind of girl – only thing that accommodates my swimmer shoulders.
Kostas used to be a jumper and has really settled down with the jumping–just yesterday I was trying to get him to jump up to give me a hug and he wouldn’t do it!
I love the dress, especially because you can dress it up or down. Perfect for real life. Pippa is beautiful. And her name is perfect.
Definitely ruffles and bows. Perhaps some sparkle? But that’s just me- I love sparkle
Oh yesss! How could I forget sparkle!!?
I’m so glad you posted a video of yourself playing! It sounds great…and it was funny to watch Pippa squirm around
I tell Milo to jump on my too because I love it, then when people come over, they don’t like it when he does it to them — oops!

Lol! Found that for you. Maybe it will help!
all my favorite kinds of greens right there!
That is too funny! I love that! You are so good at piano too! Reminds me of my days back in ballet class
Oh boy Pippa has quite a bit of energy. You make me miss playing piano so much.
love the music too…Pippa not so sure the way she bounded down..ha! cute!
i love hautelook and rue la la. so cheap, so addictive! you are a piano rockstar!
That was fun, to listen to you play the piano!! Yay!
The ballet will be a great time. I like shopping at the Loft for dresses–they seem to fit me well.
Ooh, I just booked ballet tickets too! I’m going to see ‘Sleeping Beauty’ choreographed by Matthew Bourne – he does amazing contemporary adaptations of classical ballets, and the tag line for this is ‘A Gothic Romance’ and I’m really looking forward to seeing how he updates it.
I really love Karen Millen and Reiss for formal dresses and actually found a perfect ballet dress in Reiss;

It’ll be my Christmas present to myself!
I love jalapenos! I also love plaid. You’re totally winning me over with this post.
I get more of my clothes from Forever 21 (online, of course!) for super cheap. I like Charlotte Russe, but she doesn’t like me or my Bahamian credit card, so I don’t give her my money in exchange for a cute little dresses. It’s a shame.
My brother has a Cane Corso. SO big. It loved to stand up and jump on him, and it was about his height on two legs. Crazy! I think he’s too big to do it now.
Boyd looks jealous … he wishes he could jump on y’all like that. hehe and yay!! love your playing. I love classical music but I don’t get to hear it as much nowadays since I’m not in Orchestra anymore. More more!!!
