Let’s Stay Home!

Happy sighs!

(love this print – and this sentiment!)

Kevin is home! For good. He’s been gone almost every weekday for the past month!!! I’m so happy he’s home. We’re all so happy. I’m not a good single dog parent! And all the worst things happen when Kevin’s not home!

First of all, this:

I woke up Friday morning, and I was looking at my Instagram in bed. That’s normal, right? And I kept seeing pictures of local people with snow in their yards. Surely it didn’t snow here. Sad. It did.

Also, Pippa was sick. I don’t think either of the dogs have ever been truly sick when Kevin is home! I had to let her outside multiple times during the middle of the night. I’m afraid of the dark. And it was freezing.

Finally, I broke the coffee grinder. I somehow managed to grind some of the plastic exterior in with the coffee…. I’m not very good at putting it together.

So I went to Starbucks. I impulse bought the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Via.

I didn’t read the box. I thought it was just coffee — I didn’t realize it had a whole bunch of sugar in it. That didn’t stop this from happening:

Lol. Unfortunately, I had to keep the house in decent shape since I had piano students almost every day.

The only perk was that I got to eat even more sweet potatoes than usual.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi + kale. I improvised this recipe from Kath Eats Real Food to make it savory instead of sweet. I used freeze-dried basil & Melt buttery spread in the place of butter and oil.

The dogs also had it rough. They were grounded to the futon while I did yoga. Pippa only got off about eleven times.. pure torture!

Buut… Mr.Kreisel is back! And we all slept almost 10 hours last night.

Kevin’s welcome home cookies! I was experimenting with a german chocolate cake inspired cookie… one has the coconut frosting stuffed inside. They turned out pretty well, but the recipe isn’t perfected yet! :)

Leisurely lunch at Panera! I love that Sonoma Chicken Stew, but I have to pick out all the peas. Yucky peas! The Turkey Harvest Salad was really good too!

We did a little shopping for my dress for the ballet!

Tempting, but….

I went with something sparklier! Can’t wait to wear it!

Are you excited for the first snow? I’m excited it’s gone. I think I need to take up a winter sport to improve my attitude. I do like ice skating!!!!! I’ve been dying to go with Kevin – we’ve never gone together! And I know I can skate circles around him.

Have you tried Starbucks Via? I don’t think I ever had before this week. They were very handy since I didn’t have any ground coffee on hand. I was thinking of doing some baking with them!!

  9. Yes! Let’s Stay Home! I want to do that! That picture of snow almost made me throw up. I’m so not ready for it. I actually haven’t tried the Starbucks VIA, but the iced coffee version has always been really tempting. That dress looks super cute!

Looks like a great weekend! Love the sparkles can’t wait to see the dress! I hate the snow and hope it stays away for awhile! I’m in Boston so we usually get a bunch of snow and I am always anxiously waiting for summer to come back every year!

  11. oh gosh I would not have been able to handle that! I am still hating just cooler weather here.

  12. You have got to show a picture when you put on that dress! The glimpse is a tease–it looks so fun!

  13. Snow?! Omg, too early for that! Last year we had our first major storm at the end of October and I’m pretty sure I cried! :-(

As you know … here in MN we will have plenty of snow eventually…thankfully we did not receive any dusting when you did. That’s why CO is great though…it comes and goes and the temps are nicer. ;-)

  15. ugh I want snow. we never get any down here. :/ and nope .. never had starbucks via. I only drink starbucks once in a while … ish … and when I do I’d want it fresh. :)
