Dancing Shoes

We had our first dance class tonight!

I was a little nervous!! Usually I’m pretty confident in any type of classroom atmosphere, but I’m pretty much a failure when it comes to kinesthetic learning. Okay, not a failure, but I learn more slowly that way.

Of course, I took pictures while I was waiting for the class before us to finish. Isn’t the ballroom glam? Lol. Maybe I’m crazy, but I honestly thought there would be more couples our age! ! But there was probably only even one couple in their thirties! But that’s no big deal. The worst part was definitely that we had to trade partners. Constantly!! I’m way too shy to dance with all of those people! I don’t like talking to strangers let alone let alone dancing with them!! Haha. I survived.

We’re taking General Ballroom so we started off with the Foxtrot. I’m pretty sure I’ve never even attempted that one before!

I didn’t exactly work up a sweat, but we definitely earned some Menchie’s!

Two new flavors!!! I loved the butterscotch. And it was No Sugar Added — like old people candy!! :)

I’m over the fro-yo toppings and just go for SPRINKLES every time.

While we were there, I got my stealthy husband to SPAM their bulletin board with my business cards. A fro-yo spot is a good place to find students, right??

When we got home, we practiced our new moves in our pj pants. It took some serious furniture rearranging, but we did it!!! And Pippa get squeezing in between us… as if two feet weren’t enough to worry about stepping on!

Earlier…

Today’s WOD via the WOD Genius app:

My time was a little over 18 minutes, but some of that time was due to the fact that I spent extra time practicing holding hand stands.
Pippa and I also ran 4.15 miles… I checked the weather, and it was in the fifties. I had NO IDEA what to wear. I didn’t really run outside last year too much during the winter. And before that it was always in the eighties when I ran! While I was running, I remembered seeing this calculator for what to wear running. I have a tendency to overdress which is miserable. But after the first ugly snow, I totally undressed and froze my poor ears off!!! I better get the hang of this because I’ll be outdoors with Pippa Cordelia almost every day! I hope she appreciates it!
We’ve made a LITTLE progress on how much of the yoga mat she takes up while I’m trying to practice!!! :)
Do you know how to dance? What dance would you most like to learn? I definitely need to work on my merengue someday so I can impress my friends in the DR. But for now, the easiest ones first!!!
Have you read the famous shoe booksOr at least heard about them in You’ve Got Mail ? :) In case you’re wondering what shoes I wore tonight (lol – I’m sure you are), I wore my winter shoes.

Go for it guys! Dancing is brilliant. Before you know it you will actually start to feel good at it! You just have to get beyond the first couple of months. It’s so great you are doing it as a couple.

  2. WOO! Dance class! How cool. And BRAVE of you. :)

  3. So fun! I love freestyle dancing, but I’m pretty pathetic at anything that takes actual mastery of certain moves. Too bad because I’ve always wanted to be on So You Think You Can Dance.

  4. no toppings?!?!?! whattttt?! but I mean if you find kids from menchie’s maybe they’ll give you menchie’s gift cards during the holidays. ;)

  5. The husband and I took swing dancing class when I was in college. It was so much fun! Ballroom dancing would be amazing.

I took a dance class when I was 18 and we were the youngest by far. They were all over 50, maybe this was also why I didn’t really enjoyed it back then, but I also had huge problems learning all the steps. Hope you enjoy it more than me!

  12. Ballroom dance classes sound so fun! I was a dance major in college but the one style I never learned was ballroom! I’d love to try it someday!

  13. How fun!!! I took a Latin Ballroom dance class. You think the Foxtrot is awkward? Try the tango – you get CLOSE. I kept blushing the whole time :P

Also, Pittsburgh has lots of dance nights at schools, churches, community centers, and restaurants. Maybe Denver does, too!
