The Sleeping Beauty Ballet

Hooray! In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been looking forward to going to the ballet for a while. Isn’t Kevin THE BEST!! Ballroom dance classes and ballet in the same week. I think I might owe him a camping trip… someday. Maybe when it’s warm again.

I can’t believe we had never been to the Denver Performing Arts Complex!!

So pretty!

All dolled up:

Maybe the dress was a little over the top… but hey, I had fun wearing it!!! Sparkly!! And those heels just might be the highest I’ve ever owned. And I did my wedding hair… not as good without Lisa to help me, but it only took me about two minutes.

Plus glasses and cardigan! I love this Gap cardigan! I’m not really a sweater person, but this one is cozy and the color is perfect!

The lovely outtake Kevin captures every time I have him take 50 pictures of me.

All ready to go with my hot date!

We even had a Grey’s Anatomy moment in the elevator. Haha.

We sat in the first row of the balcony so we definitely had a good view! Of course, I couldn’t take any pictures during the actual ballet, but it was amazing! I’m a big fan of the Tchaikovsky score so it was fun to hear the music performed live as well.

Of course we brought snacks!! I bought a special treat for myself — the little pumpkin candies — and Almond Joy pieces for Kevin James. Our usher wasn’t overly observant so we stayed out of trouble. They also had a nice bar in the lobby of each floor, but we didn’t partake. I didn’t know they’d have soda and coffee!!

Now let’s talk about the number of stairs I had to walk in those shoes!!! We were on the balcony level of the building on the left. And the sixth floor of the parking garage. That’s like a marathon in high heel steps!! :)

Have you been to the ballet? Taken ballet class? We’re definitely excited to go to more concerts, plays, and ballets downtown! Loving that it’s so close. I told Kevin that if we were stilling living in Minnesota, we’d still have a 2+ hour drive home!!

  8. Hi, omg I LOVE LOVE LOVE that dress, so stunning! Btw so happy I am finding amazing blogs today, made my morning, yep here it’s monday morning! Anyway I love the ballet for many reasons one I use to watch back stage as my mum who was a soloist for a company performed, she was beyond amazing, I however lacked the turn-out and wasn’t as gifted as her so I took on gymnastics instead, but I took the odd ballet/ dance class which was always fun! Opps I could probably keep rambling as I do love ze ballet but I have to get back to cramming for an exam, I have been doing a great job of procrastinating on here for at least an hour oh dear! Can’t wait to read more of your blog oh oh and I LOVE GREYS, I cried in the episode last week! Auds :-)

  9. cute dress! def not over the top. i’ve never been to a ballet, but would love to go some day!

  12. Looks like a great night out and you guys look so nice.
The last time I went to the ballet was probably 6 or 7 years ago. My mom took me, my sister-in-law and niece to see The Nutcracker.

  13. I love that dress! And the shoes! Perfect outfit! I’ve been to the ballet and love it! I was a dance major in college so ballet classes were a requirement! I definitely miss them now that I no longer take them!

  14. I’ve been to the ballet a few times when I was younger. Something tells me my husband would be pretty reluctant if I tried to get him to take me!

I love the dress and the neon cardigan looks great with it!

  15. Wowza! I love the dress on you. What a find! And the shoes–holy cow, I’d kill myself in those. There’s no way I could pull that off without falling or being an awkward dork the whole time. lol. But you look beautiful! So fun!
