I Found A Wallet

Kevin has been begging me since we’ve been married to get a wallet. He’s not a fan of finding my credit cards strewn about the house in the aftermath of my latest online shopping binge. My last wallet was stolen from my desk in about 2010 – so it was time! I just can’t commit.

But tonight we were grocery shopping at Super Target — that’s definitely a dangerous to place to grocery shop, but we needed ink cartridge — and I found a wallet. And yellow polka dots! The perfect thing to counteract gloomy fall/winter weather!

Kevin realized he could have convinced me sooner with the idea that I CAN PUT MY BUSINESS CARDS IN THERE. Sweet. The next step will be learning to leave the house with it!

We took the weirdest road trip today. We went to Highlands Ranch!!! Hahaha. It’s extra funny to us because people always confuse the Highland neighborhood with Highlands Ranch. Not even close…

But, I wanted to scope out a trail over yonder because I’m considering this trail half marathon.

Although the trails seem relatively easy to maneuver, they are SUPER HILLY. Like, I had better start doing hill repeats every single day!! Also, the race is November 10. Omg, it could be snowing, and I’m a huge pansy!!!

Can you look past crazy suburbia and see mini Denver?!?!

I was so excited at first because I thought they were rattlesnake-free trails… but the signs came a few miles down the paths. Haha. I can’t escape!!!

We’re totally city slickers, but we couldn’t help but be a tad bit jealous of the rec center!!! There are some perks to living in the suburbs, I suppose.

Back to Target…

I wanted to buy these for the road trip back home to the city…

But I got these instead. I can’t remember the last time I had Goldfish, but these were incredible!!! A serving size is 51!! Plus, Kelly Ripa eats them! You can’t argue with that!

I read about this amazing bike in Women’s Health while Kevin was paying for the groceries. Doesn’t it sound fun? I know there are treadmills that do similar things…. so I’d probably choose one of those first. But the bike sounds fun too!

My dear Kevin James felt the need to bring these home from Target’s pizza hut. Plus he took some doggy clean-up bags from the park!!! He’s really channeling the Ross Eustace Geller today!

Okay, so real question. If I run that race, do you think I need different shoes? I felt like I’d be fine in my little Reebok RealFlexes… I don’t know. I did the Sombrero Trail Run in training shoes and Frosty’s Frozen 10 Mile in brand spanking new shoes. I don’t make a lot of wise choices with shoes…

Are you a goldfish fan? That’s the ONLY kind of fish I like to eat. Okay. Also Swedish Fish.

    Haha, Ross Gellar!!

Love the wallet, it’s so cute! I’m going to Target tonight actually…I have to resist all that temptation though!

You would probably be okay in your current shoes, but I think trail shoes would be best. There was a surprise trail run in my triathlon in August (I didn’t know part of the run was through a forest!) and my ankles hurt a lot that day! That might just be normal no matter what shoes, though…

  2. What are those little Pizza Hut things he has in his hand?

If the trail is mostly what it looks like in the photos (not too rocky or rooty), then I bet you wouldn’t need different shoes. A trail race sounds so fun!

  3. cute wallet. you’re one of the reasons why I want to move to colorado. just look at those gorgeous pictures! love your reference to friends. and sadly I cannot answer your questions on the shoes deal so hopefully you found your answer already! my fave goldfish is the baby ones!! they’re so cute and the bite is better in my opinion!

  4. Love your new wallet! It is so cute!

  5. Only kinda fish I like too. Well… Tuna is awesome.
Walleeeeettttt! I lovew wallets. It’s pretty amazing that I only have like 3.
CHEESE BALLSSSSS! That used to be the treat I’d get my great gram to get me when we went grocery shopping. :)

  6. that is such an adorable wallet. cheese balls, sadly, are my all time favorite treat. i could seriously down that jar in no time.

  7. Love the wallet! I never used one either until my sister bought me one, but now I love it! Also, I nominated you for the sunshine award!

I used to love goldfish! I haven’t had them in forever! The only thing I can think of with a trail run is your sneakers might get really muddy so I would wear an older pair that you’re not too attached to just in case!

  9. I think you’ll be OK in your normal running shoes.
Yum – Goldfish! Those were our after swim lesson snack when growing up.

  10. That wallet is super cute! Target will get ya every single time! ….the snakes will be looooong gone by now- I’m assuming that it has frozen over there too. Oh goodness those hills sound killer! Ouch. Totally reach for it if your heart is pulling you to do it! …..lovvvved the channeling Ross comment! Friends is THE BEST!

  11. I have been on a Goldfish kick lately! You’ve got to try the vanilla cupcake ones; they’re so good!

  12. Kathy says:

my son could live on goldfish…I however, only sneak one when I am getting them out for him…not much of a fan. ;-( I do love Swedish Fish though!! ;-)

  13. I would look into the description of the race and see if you might need some specific trail runners or not.

Goldfish rock! I grew up on those! :)

  14. Khushboo says:

Thank you for the little blast from the past…Goldfish remind me of my childhood, especially those mini milk carton boxes which they used to come in! Try it as a salad topper- sounds weird but very yum!

You should definitely that race, although prepare for any weather. I ran their 10miler last year {Oct 8th} and they put on the race on the trails regardless of the weather – I ran in about 5 inches of snow and slush!

As for shoes – I think you are fine in the shoes you are using to get your regular runs in. I ran the 10miler in Mizuno WaveRiders, definitely not trail shoes. The trail isn’t technical at all, its basically like running on a hilly gravel path with a few roots thrown in for fun. You’ll have a ton of fun doing it, promise! :)

  16. Jade says:

Does the race have a website that says something about shoes? I know there are some trail runs that I have looked at that specifically say you if it’s best to have trail shoes. I think you should definitely do that race. And stay close to someone so the rattlesnakes can’t get you!!
