A 2-Chocolate-Bar Week

Currently Reading:

It was an impulse Amazon Prime buy after reading about it on this list of Susie Davis’s favorite books.

Kevin hit the hay extremely early last night so I made it about halfway through. I woke him up a few times giggling because it’s actually quite hilarious!!! It also convicted me about all the bad habits I’ve picked up from blogging. Ugh.

The Cherries & Almond Dark Chocolove wasn’t bad either. I’m usually good at rationing it out to myself. Usually…. I think this might be a 2-chocolate-bar-week!

Middle of the week, back-to-back students all afternoon calls for a slow cooker meal. Kelly’s Slow Cooker Lasagna! A whole package of kale in there, my friends. I almost forgot to put cheese on top. Kevin was quick to remind me!

Kevin white eating it: “Is this Paleo?”

Lol. And he meant it.

And then: “Where do you think the cavemen got the Atkins baking mix?” Oh my.

I also got another lesson on loading the dishwasher… I keep breaking dishes in there due to my hasty technique.

We somehow made it to the gym  LATE tonight. In the freezing rain/snow. (BOO!!!) We were so tempted to stay in, but we knew the gym would be pretty empty!

I’m thinking Kevin secretly wanted to watch baseball. I did 3 miles of stairs and watched some HGTV. Pippa and I ran 5 miles this morning… mostly due to some wrong turns…

I’ve been really into drinking Click at night. Not a fan of the weird residue it does around the side of the mug. I need to learn to make some type of skinny hot chocolate for Kevin James. Any great ideas? It has to be easy…

By the way, my little patient is doing a lot better. He even went to work. Bummer! I was hoping for a sick day so he could hang out at home a little bit.

Do you ever get lost when you’re running/biking/out & about? I found a new trick today. If I can locate a library, I can usually find my way home!!! I formulated a plan midway through my run that I thought was going to work, but some impulsive found me on a street I didn’t recognize. People always tell me to look at the mountains. That doesn’t work for me. Especially since I can’t really see them without my glasses. Haha.

Do you ever take sick days? haven’t taken any since I graduated from college. It’s too hard when you’re a teacher. And I haven’t puked since then, so I figure I’m safe.

  1. is it weird that the title of the book bothers me .. because of all the spaces? my mum doesn’t really let us put dishes in the dishwasher afraid that THAT might happen. kinda lucky I guess because I don’t like touching dirty dishes. haha

I’m making slow cooker lasagna on Saturday :) Is it odd that I’m excited about it two days before?!

  3. I definitely take sick days when I need them….which isn’t really that often.

  4. I’ve been wanting to read that book. My husband has read it a couple of times and has highly recommended it! Sounds like you do too :) I’ll have to get on it!

For hot chocolate, just whisk unsweetened cocoa powder into warm almond or coconut milk on the stove and sweeten to taste with honey. You can add in pure vanilla extract and cinnamon too :) Super easy and hopefully Kevin will like it!

  6. Haha, my husband gives me lessons on how to stack dishes too (used to with the dishwasher and now with the drying rack) — so funny.

  7. i have been dying to try click, they do sound good. especially for nights like that. boo that weather is rough

I think some people take sick days due to a sniffle….and others come in puking or with a fever and THEY SHOULD be home. I stay home when REALLY sick otherwise, I get all Sudafed up and head in. ;-)

  9. I rarely take sick days either…I always feel guilty and sometimes it’s easier to suck it up then deal with the catching up on workload! As for getting lost on my runs, I guess that’s another reason why I am a fan of treadmills- eliminates the risk, especially given my terrible sense of direction!

I’m so bad about taking sick days! I never take them! Can’t believe it’s snowing there already! I’m so sad that winter is coming!

I was just thinking yesterday how I don’t miss making sub plans. Now if I can’t make it to class I just cancel it. I love Anne Lamott and Bird by Bird is a favorite. She and her son just wrote a new one that you might want to check out. I’m about half way through.

  12. I rarely take sick days! It’s more work prepping for a sub than it is just sucking it up and going in. HOWEVER, I am currently SO swamped with grading that I may just have to take a sick day to get everything done by the end of our first marking period… so sad.

  13. You’re right–taking a sick day is too hard when you’re a teacher! I’d rather just be at work than come up with sub plans and deal with the aftermath when I return. It’s annoying, but thankfully, I really haven’t been sick in a long time (knock on wood!). :)
