Better Than A Craigslist Settee

So – funny story.

You know we’ve been debating about furniture, colors, blah, blah, blah. Well, while Kevin has been working, I’ve been stalking Craigslist for furniture deals. And look what happened to pop up? The West Elm Elton Settee! I’ve always liked that little thing, and we checked it out in the store when we were looking for our first couch for the living room.

Yeah, I know — what’s a settee? A long upholstered seat for more than one person, typically with a back and arms. Okay, around the same size as a love seat.

So we get it all set up to check out the settee. We were planning on getting in it, assuming that it was in brand new condition as the ad stated. Well, as soon as we walked in the door and met the Craigslist couple it was like bffs at first sight! Haha. Seriously, the girl’s name is Cori, and get this — they have a dog named Piper!!!!! Of course, I made them bring out Piper so I could play with her. We ended up chatting with them so much that we hardly even paid any attention to the furniture in question. Kevin and I had to leave to rent a truck to haul the settee back to our house, and I was like — seriously, Kevin, I’m going to invite them over. Apparently, they had the same idea because when we returned, the wife asked for my phone number. Haha. We kept talking and found out we go to the same church!!! Hilarious!!! And we’ve both had a little bit of a hard time meeting people there — it took Craigslist to bring us together. Anyways, I’m looking forward to meeting up with them again sometime soon! And we did get the settee which we’re extremely pleased with as well. It’s so stinking cute!

I didn’t have much of a chance to eat since we were running errands like crazy so I brought this Fage Fruyo in the car to try. It’s similar to their regular stuff except the fruit is mixed in rather than in a separate compartment. I think I like their classic version better, but this was actually easier on the go!

Here is a high intensity interval training workout designed to burn the fat, work your entire body and tighten up any trouble spots. Based on the Spartacus Workout Challenge from Men’s Health magazine, this exercise protocol is comprised of 10 different exercises, done for 3 rounds. Perform each move for 60 seconds, as fast as you can with good form, followed by 15 seconds of rest. After the set, take a 2 minute break and go for 2 more rounds. All you need is 1 kettlebell. You will feel the effects of this workout in your arms, abs, glutes, and legs the next day ;-)

That was definitely a tough workout for me — I used a 25lb kettlebell throughout and seriously struggled with #7 & #9. I’m definitely going to try this one again! There are videos of all the exercise at the above link.

puppy popcorn butts

The puppies say hi!!! They are waiting for Kevin to make it snow popcorn! They love popcorn!!!

Why is this Monday going so fast? :) Except I’ve been wishing Kevin had the day off. It’s a holiday!!!! Too bad his boss isn’t as nice as mine is. ;)

What’s the most unusual way you’ve made a friend? Friend “how we met” stories can be fun too!!

If you had today off, how’d you spend it? I’m trying to be productive, but I’m stuck in decorating/rearranging mode in the house.

I love that you made a friend from Craigslist. So cute! Greg and I have made friends in the strangest places. And pretty much every time we go wine testing we end up having new BFFs for the day and go get dinner or lunch with them or something.
There are a TON of wonderful blogger girls in Colorado- you need to hang out with them!! :)
My guys are nuts for popcorn too- they do the exact same thing when we break out the air popper.

  6. That’s a great story! It’s so funny how you can some times meet the most awesome people in really random ways!

  7. The start of that story made me so nervous (because I don’t trust Craigslist), but I love it! It’s always so fun to meet new friends!

  8. Kathy says:

That is so cool….it’s times like those that you know there is a higher power working to unite people for a reason. How fun!

  9. I spent my day getting manicures, cleaning, and hanging out with girlfriends. pretty awesome.

  10. the settee reminds me of your orange couch. or maybe I’ve mistaken. love it nonetheless. and as for meeting that couple, meant to be!! :) :) hope to hear more about y’all’s dinner dates and what not! fun!

  11. The settee is beautiful–so classy! I had the day off and have been very productive. We were in Florida until this morning. So, since we got home I’ve done a ton of laundry, packed lunches for the week, and finished writing my lessons for the week. :)

  12. Ah, so fun! New friends and furniture! :-) I’ve never seen that Fage, but it sounds good!

  13. I adore FAGE, I just recently got hooked on it.

That is an awesome find! A new couch and friends! :)

  15. Jade says:

Yay for meeting friends, it is so hard. We always see people like at trails and stuff and we want to ask for their numbers because they look about our age and obviously have common interests with us…but we never do. Looking for a way to be less creepy about it. Maybe I will see our couch?? It would be worth it for friends.

  16. paleoinpdx says:

Wow, you were definitely meant to be friends! That’s more than just coincidence!

  17. cleanfoodcreativefitness says:

I have such a love hate relationship with kettlebells. Looks like a fun wod though!

  18. Love the settee!! We’re huge fans of West Elm.
