I think it’s obvious from my blog that Kevin is quite the catch and is a spectacular husband. So I mean this in a fun, totally lighthearted way, but…
I never thought I’d marry someone who isn’t into music.
Like at all. If you asked him his favorite band, he’d probably say to ask me. And I’d say whatever I’m listening to! Or sports radio. He felt he had a major breakthrough the other day when he told me he isn’t crazy about one of the Christian stations in Denver because he feels like they play “suburbs music.” Haha. What can I say? We’re city snobs.
It took a while to get past the fact that I can’t really play a song for him and force him to listen. No. Really listen. And we’re like Taylor Swift…. we don’t really have a song! While I lived in the DR, he had an iPod that he used while running. It only had music I put on there like every six months when I’d see him (don’t miss that one bit!!).
But I’ve learned that there are some perks. I can listen to whatever I want! And I do. My first love was classical music, and I listen to that lot. I like sad songs. I’m on a country kick! I almost always workout to Latin music that is almost entirely in Spanish. In the mornings, I like to listen to Christian music. I even liked Call Me Maybe for a while! I love to listen to songs on REPEAT!! How annoying is that? But Kevin never says a word!
Other: He goes with me to any concert I want (although I’m afraid to take him to a “cool” concert). He likes to listen to me play piano. In his defense, he played the trumpet for many years and can still read music and whatnot so he’s not completely illiterate.
Runner up answer: I can’t believe I married someone who really doesn’t like to READ!
I felt stressed just writing that. Haha. I guess the plus to that is less library fines, am I right? Except sometimes I check out books for him, and they take forever to read so…
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a genius. He just doesn’t like to read for pleasure!
Reading & music have definitely been my top 2 lifelong hobbies. Loved them both before I ever ran a 5k or picked up a barbell. So it is kinda cool that we share CrossFit as a hobby these days.
I asked Kevin to answer the same question. But of course the only answer he came up with was,”I can’t believe I married someone who is so beautiful.” Uh huh. Smooth. Maybe that’s because I told him he couldn’t say “someone who works out so much.”
So I helped him come up with a few — I can’t believe I married someone who…
- Posts so many photos of me eating cookies on the interwebs.
- Can’t take coffee out of the grinder without taking the lid off. Kevin demonstrates for me almost daily how this can be done, but I always knock it off somehow.
- Does not allow ketchup in the refrigerator. It’s gross.
- Does pull-ups every time she leaves the house or comes home.
- Paints rooms colors like Razzle Dazzle.
- Loves to eat cereal in bed.
- Prefers to sleep with a nightlight.
- Wants to wear overalls!
Haha. I almost feel bad for him reading that list. But who are we kidding, we would marry each other again 100,000,000 times+!
Your turn… I can’t believe I married/am dating/want to date some who….
Do you have a song? What is it?
Do you & your significant other have similar taste in music/books?
