Pink & White Nails just opened up this week — do you see Menchie’s across the street? Aha! Convenient location. They were offering 20% off all services so I took them up on it. My manicurist also insisted on waxing my eyebrows… “you need me!!” Haha. True.

This grid foam roller came in the mail yesterday — also a preparation for our big Minnesota trip! I actually ordered camo by mistake, but I love it! Haha. Have I mentioned lately that my dad and me are running a super hilly HALF marathon on Friday!! Just for fun. It’s not a race or anything. Of course, I’m a little nervous and worried that I’m going be crazy sore afterwards. CrossFit has actually taught me so much about mobility and that side of training in the last few months! I never used to do anything!! Isn’t that terrible? I still kind of hate it, but I know it works now! Plus it’s when we first get to class so it’s the perfect time to catch up with all my gym buddies!!!

When I looked at the board, I was like sick. Because movements #1 & #3 are both struggles for me. But then my coach suggested I try the toes to bar on the rings like so:
Umm… that was WAY easier although they said it was a “scale up.” I’ll take it!! It definitely got way harder as the workout progressed. I had to break them up into 3 sets of 4, but I’m okay with that. Plus it was fun! It kind of felt like a kid thing to do, swinging through the rings. We actually have to put our toes inside the rings for the rep to count. I no-repped myself a few times because I didn’t quite get far enough, but then I started channeling Camille.
Forgot my time. Oops! I beat Kevin, and I think that’s all we really need to know here. Haha. Kidding, but I knew I didn’t have a competitive time so I didn’t worry about it. I had to do the handstand push ups from a box… I’ll get those dumb things soon!!!!!
In other news, I am such a nerd, but I’m in love with this book (recommended by Modern Mrs.Darcy). I am learning soo much, and I can’t wait to start repeating it to my piano students. I’m sure they will love it! I seriously stayed up late last night reading it and freaking out whenever I read something fascinating. Pretty sure I’m going to have to buy it! I would recommend it for any teacher or anyone who practices… anything. I keep thinking of ways to connect it to CrossFit and running too. So interesting!
Alright, I’m off to pack. I’m obviously not even close done… there are only 3 pairs of shoes there, and I’m going to be there for 4 days! I’m just excited to have a head start from Kevin. Somehow he’s always done packing and relaxing, and I’m scurrying around trying to find things at midnight the night before a trip!!!! He’ll still probably beat me. But yay it’s Date Night!!
We are thinking about cheating on our challenge on Friday night after my half marathon on my sister’s birthday! Should we?? The only reason I don’t want to is because I’m finally feeling normal again this week after two weeks of relative misery. I don’t want to go back to that!! Haha. But I’m making this brownie bottom ice cream cake either way!
Do you have any mobility tools at home? We have that roller and also a lacrosse ball we got a while back. They’re nice to have around!
