During our Minnesota trip, we missed CrossFit for 5 days. The only thing I did was run and SUP. I’m sure it was a good break, but now I’m having a hard time getting back into it. That’s why I hate taking many rest days. I feel like I lose motivation so quickly. I was trying to get out of going yesterday morning and asked Kevin if I should go. “You’ll enjoy it,” he said. So I went.
Enjoy might be a strong word for this wod:
3 rounds – 1 minute AMRAP of each of the following:
- Row for calories
- Thrusters @ 75lbs
- Box Jumps
- Dead lifts @ 135lbs
At first when I saw the board, I was like ughh…. those 1 minute AMRAPs are always killer. But then I noticed that they are mostly movements I do well with. Box jumps? YES! Burpees! YES! Thrusters and dead lifts are probably two of my best lifts though I’m still not crazy about anything on the barbell.
And then it happened… my coach came over and shared this little secret,”I was told you need to do a heavier weight.” Hahaha. Our “head coach” (well, he’s the box owner, I don’t know) was there finishing up the previous class, and apparently he said I needed to up the weight. Of course, it’s encouraging when your coaches want you to lift heavier weights. But it’s also heavier!!!!
I think my reps were 75, 63, and 62. Yeah, lost a few reps after the first round, but I think that was a pretty high score for the day so I’ll take it!
It was one of those days where I totally forgot to scrub the burpees off my knees in the shower. The sad part was that I didn’t even notice right away. I thought they were bruises. I just changed into jeans. That’s definitely a perk of being self-employed.
And Boyd too, even though he shows it in unusual ways!
Do you think my house looks empty? I had a piano student gush over my house yesterday because it’s so minimalist, especially in the front rooms. “Do you own stuff?” She said she was inspired to go home and throw everything away to be like Mrs.Kreisel. Lol.
Last night’s Date Night was at ModMarket – we LOVE that place. If you check in on Yelp, you get 10% off! And then there are always coupons on the receipts tempting you to return within a week.
Kevin and i WISED UP. We ordered not 2, but 3 dinners. None of this going out to dinner and then coming home and eating again! We both ordered the steak plate with salad & vegetables.
We also shared this monstrous BYO salad — chicken, avocado, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and these really delicious shredded sweet potatoes!!! We ate every bite.
Friday is my big day off every week at home. I’m so thankful for it as long as it lasts!! Now I’m going to go take advantage of it.
Big news is that my kid brother comes to town this weekend! He’s going to Colorado Christian University in Lakewood (it’s close), and we’re looking forward to having him around. Except for this first week when he can eat junk food and we can’t. And I’m sure he will. The fun part is that we get to help him go college shopping!!!!!
What’s the one thing you would consider an essential for a college dorm? I packed my parents’ mini van full. He’s coming with a suitcase, maybe 2.
What was your favorite thing to eat in your college cafeteria? One of the colleges I went to had either mini corn dogs or chicken nuggets like every day!!! The other college I went to had the best Taco Thursday! With ice cream for dessert.
Have you ever ordered an extra meal at a restaurant? It reminded me of when the Biggest Loser contestants who tell stories of going through fast food drive-thrus and pretending they are ordering for a group. Haha. ModMarket is fast-casual, so it wasn’t really so noticeable. Or so we thought! My other option was to go to Panera next door after we were done. Lol.
