Do you ever wonder how I get any work done around here?
It’s hard with characters like The Cute Laundry Napper!
And Piano Bench Boyd.
When I texted Kevin this pic, he asked me if I posed him like that. Why would I do that? I know I invent things just to irritate Boyd, but this isn’t overly cute. More just weird. That’s where I found him when I came back from a run with Pippa. That’s right, he had the entire house to roam, and that’s the spot he chose.
Here’s a classic Pippa look.
Allow me to interpret.
“Soo… are we REALLY getting up now or are you going to spend another hour on your computer/looking for your shoes?” She gets super annoyed with how long it takes me to get ready to go out for a run!
And here’s another perch where I found the Boykin after a run.
Those little clowns!!! Have I ever told you that having a dog is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made??? I’m sure Kevin would say the same about his little train wreck. Here are 21 Reasons A Dog Is The Best Investment You’ll Ever Make. I think I could make an even better list! I’ll work on it.
I’ve been running a little bit lately:
No, I didn’t run three times yesterday. I accidentally pressed “stop” twice… SKILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I broke my Garmin watch band a while back, and I just cannot commit to a running app. None of them have everything I need. I used the Nike+ Running app for a while so I could spy on my relatives. But that dumb thing doesn’t even tell your pace as you go! Lame. Yesterday, I used the Endomodo app. It was okay.
This is what I want: time elapsed, average pace, current pace, and mile splits. All on the same pages. This scrolling to the next page is for the birds!! I’m clumsy! I have a dog leash in one hand! Is that too much to ask? And maybe something cute to look at or some fun stats.
For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to run for an hour on Tuesday. Do I start this at a reasonable hour of the day when it’s not too hot? Nope. I start it at about 10AM. And then I run the first four miles at 10:30+ pace with Pippa. I drop her off at home to run some hills and try to “fix” that pace. Yesterday, I felt like I should run farther than Wednesday. Once again I started mid-morning. No plan, people. This is just the kind of thing I come up with when I’m running. I also felt that I should do negative splits. Haha. I made sure to start out slooooow!! I can’t show you all the splits because they’re divided among three runs, but you can see the pace. Look, I can still ramble on about running like I do about CrossFit!
Okay, I went there too.
The ONE day I was hoping running didn’t come up in wod:
Running is usually my time to “shine”, but I wasn’t thrilled to see THAT on the board. But I did it. And I crushed it. I actually got almost a lap ahead of everyone. That might SOUND like a good thing, but it’s actually not that great when you have TWO coaches counting EVERY REP and screaming at you to do them unbroken. Haha. I had to do jumping pull-ups, unfortunately, but I finished at 8:23. My coaches were proud, and one of them told me that I really need to get my kipping pull-ups so they can “fight me.” Ha ha.
I’m sore today. So sore. I’m totally skipping. We’re doing the memorial wod for the hotshots on Saturday, and I don’t want to be dead.
My paleo challenge is over, and I’m still eating healthy fats?!??! Who would’ve thought? I love the Wholly Guacamole packets. I mean, LOOK at those ingredients. And none of this avocado ripeness guessing business!! And we just found these teeny tiny tubs at Target. So much better than the packets which can be hard to squeeze!! They should make Justin’s Almond Butter like this!
That’s ALMOST paleo. Alexia Sweet Potato Puffs, grass-fed beef, guacamole, and my favorite 3-color cole slaw.
But this is also back in my life:
The Sprouts snack aisle!
I tried this Earth Balance popcorn this week, and it was delicious. Kind of like Pirate’s Booty.
I read this little gem last night about an arranged marriage. I’d say to pass on it. It was very How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days so it was definitely entertaining, but not really worth it. But, of course, I got curious and had to finish it before I went to sleep. Oh. The best part was that the main character was name “Anne Blythe” — like Anne of Green Gables!! Cute!
Do you use a running app? Which? I seriously have at least 4 on my phone right now. I’ve been tempted to use two at once because I’m super skeptical of the accuracy of the Nike+ app.
What’s the best investment you’ve ever made? Pippa Cordelia. And I know you’ll love me for saying this, but also CrossFit. Here are 21 Reasons Not To Join CrossFit or your local strength & conditioning facility. :)
What’s your time to shine at the gym? Cartwheels, for sure. Running, then burpees. And that’s all I got.
